Jan 19-24 stay at PO-R. We are DH-34, DW-30 and DS-5 months. We drove, so we packed breakfast items from home. We purchased the refillable mugs and used them 2-4 times a day.
SUN. lunch @ Wolfgang Puck Express
We split a pesto pizza and a chicken sandwich w/ herbed fries. The pizza was excellent. We chose the sandwich (which was just ok) mostly to get the herbed fries. I guess at WP Express the herbs are invisible and tastless on their fries, for they were just regular fries. Overall, we'd go back-but order something else.
SUN. dinner @ O'hana
Excellent. We have made this a tradition. We were seated in the front window so we had a perfect view of MK fireworks. Even though we were stuffed we split a mousse for dessert which was worth the discomfort.
MON. lunch @ FlameTree BBQ
We got the deal they were offering at the time. A combo meal at FlameTree, a soda and an ice cream later in the day anywhere at AK. DW got BBQ chicken salad. I ordered the smoked pork sandwich. We enjoyed it. Glad it was open unlike our last visit.
MON. dinner @ Yakitori House
My favorite WS counter service place for a meal. DW got beef curry w/ udon noodles and I had the shogun combination, which was chicken and beef teriyaki served with rice. The tables were all taken inside so we ate outside. Once our eyes adjusted (it was nighttime) it was quite nice. The sounds of ToD seemed a world away.
TUE. lunch @ Plaza Pavilion
We've never been here before. We ended sitting all alone on the balcony overlooking a small creek and Cinderella's Castle. A very peaceful lunch. DW got salad again. This time chicken garden salad which also had green beans and roasted potatoes in it. Different, but good. I had the fried chicken strips w/ french fries.
TUE. dinner @ Tangierine Cafe
I've always felt guilty about skipping over Morocco so we decided to eat here. DW got the mediterrean pizza. She hardly ate any, the cheese was different in a bad way. I had the shawarma lamb sandwich which seemed like a gyro on a bun, but very dry.
TUE. dessert @ Boulangerie Patisserie
Since dinner was a bust we splurges on dessert. We decided to get 3 and split them. We chose a custard pastry item, a carmel souffle, and the marvelous. Another guest in line recommended the pastry and we're glad that she did, that was the best with the marvelous a close 2nd and the souffle not getting finished coming in third.
WED. lunch @ Beaches & Cream
Even though we enjoyed B&C in 2002, I had to talk DW into stopping again. She's glad we did. She enjoyed a turkey burger and me a regular burger with a "real" cherry coke. Can't leave here w/o ice cream, we split a brownie a la mode sundae.
WED. dinner @ Le Cellier
Our first visit here. This will be an Epcot tradition for us. Excellent meal, great service. DW had the rosemary garlic seared chicken and I the herb-crusted prime rib w/ a switch to the cream cheese mashed potatoes. Of course we had to get the Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup, which we both did. I recommend using the pretzel bread to scrape any remaining soup from the bowl.
WED. dessert @ Trapper Bob's Beavertails
This will also be an Epcot tradition. It is fun to get stuff like this and then walk through the park and see peoples' reactions to these . DW got hers covered with strawberries and cream. I got half with chocolate hazelnut and half with maple.
THU. lunch @ Trails End
This meal would be a deal on the "outside." Given WDW prices this place is a steal. The total w/ tax was below $22 for the 2 of us. It's been so long I forget all what was offered but it was a lot. Some of the items I remember are; salad bar, chili, BBQ beef, southwest turkey wraps, ham and roast beef deli sandwiches, fried chicken, rice, mashed potatoes, and pizza. Everything we tried was good and the CM's that work way out there are extra friendly.
THU. dinner @ Spoodles
This is our 3rd time in a row with a disappointing dinner at the BW. Big River Brewery and ESPN Club were just okay and a dud respectively in previous visits, this year Spoodles did not live up to its reputation for us. DW ordered sauteed chicken breast and me the grilled salmon. Both of our meals were average. Maybe because we had a big lunch at Trails End, our heart just wasn't in it. We did try sangria for the first time and we're glad we did. The waiter called it "adult kool-aid" and boy was he right.
THU. dessert @ Boardwalk Bakery
Since Spoodles wasn't going well we weren't going to push our luck on dessert, especially with a bakery next door. I got the peanut butter bar cake and DW the cheesecake brownie. We both thought this was better than anything we got at Boulangerie Patisserie in Epcot's France.
FRI. lunch @ Wolfgang Puck Cafe
DW got the chicken "Wolfredo" pizza and just thought it was ok. About this time she wondered aloud about her always ordering chicken and perhaps getting tired of it. I don't like alfredo-type sauce, but to me her pizza sure looked good. I ordered the BBQ chicken quesadillas as my meal. They were very good and just not filling enough so I could order the creme brulee sampler for dessert. Of the 3 in the sampler, each one was awesome until I got to the next which tasted even better.
FRI. dinner @ Riverside Mill
We finally ate in our resort's food court after a week's stay. We should've eaten here earlier. We had good food and big portions for a reasonable price. DW had the chicken quesadillas which she couldn't finish but enjoyed. We split an order of garlic knots ( twisted-up breadsticks). I got a meatball sub and fries. We were definitely full.
Any questions? Just ask.
