Restaurant reviews and recipes...formerly Disney QOTD

I have no plans for travelling other than going to the Gulf Islands and doing work on our property there next year. We do have a major trip planned for sometime in early 2011. We are planning to drive down to DL again, and this time explore the Oregon/Washington coast on the way back. We can't afford to take major trips every year, just every 2 to 3 years.

If you go to Las Vegas, Karen, let me know.
We might be here in AZ and then it is about a 6 hour drive.

We have a March and June WDW trip PLANNED, booked, reserved, but no air fare yet, so I don't see either trip happening until air fare comes WAY DOWN! :sad2:

2010 DH and I will be taking our first cruise in February on one of the Royal Caribbean ships to the Caribbean. Cancun, Mexico in June, and Myrtle Beach, SC end of July with the family. DH and I will probably take a short getaway in November, that trip's not planned yet. Our next Disney trip isn't until January 2011, we will be staying at the new Bay Lake Towers Resort.

Back to Disney :) QOTD.....12-30

Have you ever experienced a dusting of extra dixie dust? Tell us about it.

Welcome home Nancy.

One year at breakfast I got a free smoothie because it was my birthday.

2 different years we have gotten a free upgrade to a king room at POFQ.

We were given an upgrade to a savanna view at AKL last year, plus a few glasses of champagne, free deserts etc for our anniversary.

At Disneyland they August the previous year we were given imediate entry onto the Nemo subs ride (bypassing a 2 hour line) for our anniversary also. We also had the CM's at Space Mountain sing Happy Anniversary to us to the tune of happy birthday!

On a non Disney note the best upgrade we have ever been given was on our 1st ever trip to the USA. We were going to las Vegas and I had seen a programme on Discovery about the Vennetian hotel and decided I wanted to stay there. So we booked the cheapest suite (we had only been married a few years and the fact we were able to travel to the USA was a big deal to us at the time.) But when we checked in we were told we had been given a free upgrade, turned out it was a high roller suite you could not book. 2nd to top floor, end room with view of the strip both ways, 2 bedrooms (the suite was bigger than my house), a sauna and steam room in our room, 4 toilets, 2 jacuzzies, and a huge 12 seater marble dining table!!

I have received a lot of birthday treats and special seatings.....getting to be too many to remember them all, but they were all appreciated. Sung to. Many, many birthday and anniversary wishes.
Opening DHS.
And of course the tiaras and roses at GF tea.
We have also been upgraded to king bed at POR (DD and I :rotfl: )

Welcome home, Nancy!

I was a part of an upgrade once. I was going to WDW with a friend about a month after she went on a trip with her family. A few things were off with her family trip, so they offered to upgrade her next trip--so I got to stay at the Poly instead of CBR. That was awesome. Other than that, nothing too much. Well, one time we were able to stay on Kali River Rapids instead of going back in line...so by the time we got off, we were soaked!

Thanks for the welcome....I would rather be moved to AZ and be in that home though ;)
But good to get back to my baby kitty :cat:

Now thats an upgrade. :thumbsup2

Happy New Year's Eve!!

QOTD.....12-31

Do you use the shampoos and other toiletries in the rooms? Do you take them home with you?
How about the pens and paper?

I take my own shampoo, etc., but I do bring the ones in the room home with me and give them to my grandkids. When my nephew was in Iraq, I sent them to him but he is home safely now so my grandkids enjoy them. In fact, when my youngest DGS wasn't quite 2 yet, he opened all the soaps and put them in the commode and stopped it up!:rotfl: I had to laugh but I don't think his parents were too happy about it. Somebody wasn't watching him!

I use the pens and paper when I'm there, and even carry them with me to the parks, but I don't bring them home; however, DH sneaked a pen home once.

Hello, sorry I know this isn't the right place to ask this question but I didn't know where to how to get to where to ask it.....anyways, I have been following megansmom PTR and thought I have saved it on my favorites but I guess not, I can't find it can anyone help me? Thank you

I use the conditioner in the room, but take my own shampoo. DH uses all the products left in the room for us. The H2O stuff seems nice to use. What we don't use we do bring home with us, it is useful for when we have weekends away and we don't want to take much luggage.

DH uses the shampoo.
I bring all my own things with me.
We take the unopened items home and I send them in exchanges :rotfl:
I do take the pens....using one right now ::yes::

I bring my own, but I bring them home. And any paper & pens too. I can't help myself. Makes me think of a funny story. When I went to WDW in 2005, the day I came home, my niece Samantha slept over--she was almost 7. So I was unpacking in front of her. As I took out the toiletries, she said "mommy says you're not supposed to take those home!". I could imagine my sister telling her that because she knew they would end up in the garbage! I don't remember what I said to her, but I probably told her I used them a little so the maid would throw them out so I took them home instead.

Happy New Year's Eve! I've been MIA...so far behind! Xmas cards will now be NY cards. ugh! :goodvibes We're also hosting a Ukrainian boy for the week while his hockey team is here. It's been fun, but these 8am games are killer.

I don't use the shampoo, but do use the soap. I used to cart them all home -I now have a stash, even the old ones in the boxes. I do keep the pens. Animal Kingdom has animal id sheets--kept those! I need to start scrapbooking.

I do use the soaps and shampoo. It's easier than taking full sized bottles of the products that I like. The leftovers I take home with me, and use them up...eventually.
