This was a Surprize Trip that DH planned for just the two of us about 2 weeks beforehand.
Saturday Breakfast: Kona Cafe, another new restaurant for us. I wasn't in the mood for a heavy breakfast, so I didn't try the tonga toast. I just had bacon and eggs and hash browns (really just steak fries) and a cup of coffee (very very good coffee). DH had the Big Kahuna, pancakes, french toast, eggs, bacon, sausage and ham and home fries. The meal was good, but it was just breakfast food.
Saturday Lunch: Le Cellier, another new restaurant for us. We got there about 15 minutes before our PS, but were seated immediatley. We tried the 3 breadsticks, pretzel, sour dough and 7 grain. I liked the pretzel best. Next we got the famous cheddar cheese soup to share. I tried it, and sorry guys, but I didn't like it. DH finished it, and was unimpressed. I ordered the Sliced Prime Rib "French Dip" Sandwich - French onion roll, caramelized onions, Canadian cheddar, and horseradish cream spread accompanied by beef jus, and had them hold the horseradish cream spread. DH had the 10 oz. New York Strip Steak - roasted garlic, mache, and roasted Yukon potatoes, caramelized Vidalia onions and finished with veal demi glaze, minus the demi glaze. He loved his, and I tried it and loved it too. Mine was ummm... I wish I had been back at Beaches & Cream. There was a flavor to the bread that was so overpowering, it made it inedible. I ate the meat without the bread. The steak was good, but we won't go back again. We can get really good steak at home.
Saturday Dinner: Grand Floridian Café, another new restaurant for us. We had about a 45 minute wait (no PSs due to rain see trip report) and decided to walk around the main building. Martha, who is a hostess is the best. She is kind and funny and funny. We were seated and ordered diet cokes. Fresh rolls and butter were brought out. They were very good. We both ordered the French Onion soup. I ordered the prime rib, which came with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh asparagus. My DH got the Entree Caesar Salad with the grilled chicken breast. The soup was the best French Onion Soup we have ever had. I want to get the recipe. My prime rib was out of this world. It was perfectly cooked and tender. The potatoes and asparagus were also wonderful. My DH enjoyed his salad, but would have liked a larger peice of chicken. For dessert we tried the tiramisu and chocolate mousse cake. The cake was good, but the tiramisu was great. We would go back there again anytime. The prices were also very reasonable. It was the best dinner we had this trip.
