I am looking for a couple restaurant recommendations. We want to make reservations for our group. We have 7 (6 adults ranging in age from 31 - 69) and 1 child, age 5.

We have picky eaters so if we want to eat together, we need to stay away from ethnic foods and steer closer to American cuisine.

Thanks!!

You might get a kick out of The Whispering Canyon Cafe at the Wilderness Lodge. It's served family style and it's just good 'ol home cookin'. :thumbsup2

Chef Mickey's is pretty American buffet, scalloped potatoes, steak, broccoli and cheese, etc. Chicken fingers, mac and cheese for kids and of course the desserts. Crystal Palace is pretty much the same way, both are buffets. Most of the restaurants do have fairly limited menus so buffets may be your best bet.

In the MK area, I would recommend like the PP did, Crystal Palace. If you don't want a buffet, the dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern is quite all-American as well. Crystal Palace includes Pooh and his friends, which may be a delight for a 5-yr-old.

In the Epcot area, I would recommend Garden Grill (all-you-can-eat steak, turkey, catfish, mac-and-cheese, etc) or, if you wanted something a little nicer, the Captain's Grille at the Beach Club (steaks, crab legs, chops). The Garden Grill includes Chip and Dale and Mickey and Pluto; the Captain's Grille is one of my favorites and includes stellar service and a quiet atmosphere.

In the Studios area, I would recommend 50s Prime Time Cafe. 'Down home' is the very definition of what they offer here - chicken, mashed potatoes, meatloaf, milkshakes.

In the Animal Kingdom area, it is slightly more difficult to find things that are not at least partly exotic in nature. That being said, either the buffet at Tusker House or the buffet at Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge both offer 'plain' choices alongside their more 'ethnic' offerings.

In general, when dealing with larger groups and/or picky eaters, it is probably easier to do buffets where everyone can pick from a multitude of things. The buffets all include a 'kids' area with nuggets or mac-and-cheese or pizza, and adults can eat these things too.

If one or more of your 'picky' folks is an adult, be aware that in most cases a table service restaurant will serve an adult a portion of a kids' meal entree - chicken nuggets, for example - but it will be a larger portion at adult-level prices. I had a friend who is a terribly picky eater go with us a couple of years ago, and she had chicken nuggets a couple of times while we ate things she refused to try.

Another "plus" for the Tusker house: if you book lunch between 1pm-1:40pm, you get reserved seating (free) for the live Finding Nemo performance at 3:15. My husband is a picky-ish eater, but I'm sure the buffet has something for everyone.

My favorites are Flame Tree BBQ in AK, Breakfast at Crystal Palace in MK, 50's Primetime cafe in HS, and Le Cellier in Epcot....Although I really like the Sunshine Seasons and Les Chefs de France in epcot as well.....

I agree w/ alot of the above choices but may I suggest Hollywood & Vine. We always have lunch here to get out of the heat at Hollywood Studios. It is nice and has a variety of choices :)

Hi, I've just looked on the reservation system...but can't find where to do this for the finding nemo show? Where did you find this info? thanks

You don't have to reserve it this way, they just give you a paper ticket with your lunch check. Your ADR has to fall within the times listed, that's all.

I certainly understand about the picky eaters. Last time we went, we took my In-laws and met friends from AL. There were 9 of us all together. Exotic For my DFIL is spaghetti at Bob Evans.

I made an ADR at RM at Epcot. I was afraid that everyone would hate it, but hoped the belly dancer would make the guys happy. It ended up being everyones favorite meal of our 9 days. I had never eaten Morrocan food, and I have to believe that RM is an Americanized version, but it was good. There was something on the menu for everyone. And I was right, they did love the Belly Dancer!

Don't rule out restaurants that just sound fun to you.
