I haven't eaten at Shutters, but reputation aside, I really look forward to trying it some day. The menu interests me and I regret that I didn't try it during our stay at Caribbean Beach (because aside from the restaurant, I can't think of a reason to ever go back to that resort).

I hope more people respond to this one-- I'd like to hear more folks' experiences. We've got ADRs here for Nov. The menu looks pretty good, and since we're staying there at the resort, I thought it'd be a good relaxing meal!

We liked it enough a couple of years ago that we went back on the next trip-good wings and crab cakes.

We went here in January and it was our favorite restaurant! This place is wonderful! We liked it so much, we canceled our last reservation to Le Cellier to eat here again. I had the Caribbean Pasta and it was delicious! My boyfriend ordered the Land & Sea, which he really liked. The waiter also told us we could order water for during the meal and then get a Smoothie as our drink to take with us to go, which I did. Even the butter (it was a cilantro butter I think) and bread before the meal was delicious. We probably looked like we hadn't eaten in days because we were enjoying our food so much. :rotfl:

Plus I cannot say how great our waiter, Eddie, was. He saw us come back in our second night there and immediately grabbed some menus and sat us in his area himself. He was so friendly and made the meal even better!

We actually almost canceled on this place because my boyfriend wasn't sold on the menu when he looked at it, but lemme tell you, he was very glad that we went!
Best meal (or meals I guess I should say) we had the entire trip! :thumbsup2

Yeah, me too. The posts on this place are probably the most derisive I've seen for anything we've covered yet. I'm interested in seeing how it turns out.

NAY- the food was gross and the wait staff abysmal.Food-husbands food was cold/partially frozen ,mine was steak which was basically a hunk of fat with some meat on itI expect some fat on steak, but this was literally alot of fat and very little meat.Wait staff-Besides trying to get our food issues fixed,They forgot to bring my daughters meal, then brought the wrong one and never came back to the table so we could get it straightened out-someone else came over to try and help ,then got "lost" for another 20 mins.By that time my 4 yr old was crying and we were done and fed up.Took another 15 mins to get the check, we got charged for meals that weren't ours,, they never came to ask if we wanted our drinks refilled, they just disappeared.I can cut slack if it is busy, or a bad night. But the place was emoty and we could see our waitress laughing and talking and basically ignoring us and the other table. This was our 2nd time here, we were also here back before it became shutters, and that was just as bad.

I haven't eaten there since it changed from the old Captain's Table. It was good back then. If you go to the menu section on the opening page of this site, there is an interesting audio review of Shutters. Last week when we were at the CBR I was telling the bartender at the Banana Cabana about the review and she disagreed with at least some of the claims since she tends bar in there, too. We just grabbed something quick at the food court and it wasn't as good as it was some years back.

I voted Nay. If I was staying at CBR I would probably give it another try, but I did not enjoy it enough to go out of my way to eat there.

Waffle House would get a michelin star comparred to SHutters, :lmao: OMG....the menu looks really good, and I am staying at CBR,
I was thinking of trying it, but after hearing the review on the menu link, how can I?! I am disappointed, and too afraid to try it for myself.

I would say that anyone should try any restaurant that they're interested in, regardless of press. A lot of times, and this is true for anywhere, not just Disney, people will have a negative opinion of a place based on previous reviews having never actually been to there themselves, whether it's as a result of an Internet message board or a New York Times review.

The only opinion that is truly and ultimately valid is your own. I'm all for experiencing new things, and if those things turn out bad or not of my personal tastes, then I still feel I'm better for it. At least I gave it a go.

262 views and only 25 votes! I guess for better or worse, this just isn't a very popular restaurant.

No, I guess not. It's tucked away at a resort that isn't easy to get to and doesn't have many other attractions for non-guests. It's also notable that this is the first of our polls with a nay majority. I wonder how many more we'll see?

We didn't eat there on our-just completed trip to CBR. I will admit that all the negative reviews and comments certainly scared me off to some degree. There were other restaurants throughout the World that I wanted to try more (Le Cellier, 'Ohana, WCC, Coral Reef, Chef Mickey's) and I was able to get ADRs for them all. If I couldn't get ADRs at those restaurants, I probably would have opted for the convenience and tried Shutters one night. I will say that another family we talked while waiting for a bus was raving about the dinner they had there.

Totally agree.

This is very true. We had the hard time trying to figure out how to get there. Since we stayed in an All-Star Resort, we were confused just by the fact that the Carribean Resort had more than one drop off area, so we had no idea WHERE to get off.

We stayed at CBR last December... we made an ADR for Shutters thinking it would be fun to eat at our resort. It was SOOOO good! It was seriously one of our favorite meals of the trip - the food and service were wonderful! We actually ended up cancelling an ADR for Crystal Palace to eat there a 2nd time! I would say yes - it is definitely worth a try!
