Never tried it - your thoughts?

We will be travelling with kids who are not super adventerous, but are on the adult dining plan, so can order anything.

Also, I was just reading the menu, is the Royal Feast included on DDP?

Marrakesh is very good. The atmosphere is a huge part of it. The musicians the belly dancers. We were able to upgrade and use dp credits to get the feast. It was several years ago, so I'm not sure if it was the royal feast or if you would be allowed to do it now.

Our family DH, DS10, DS6, and I were joined by our friends. We were on the dining plan. For $7.99 we could get the Royal feast. We got 2 of those and DS got the lamb. DS6 got kids pasta. It was a lot of food and a waste for me. I did not finish the chicken that came with the meal. Everything that we got was delicious. The belly dancers were great and called DS up to dance for his birthday. The waitstaff was wonderful. However, when we got the bill they charged the tip and tax on both the $45 for the meal and the $7.99 additional charge. We pointed out the issue, but they did not understand and we were trying to get a few more minutes of park time with our friends before they had to drive home. The final charge to our room was an additional $47 and was the most OOP for any meal that we had that week on the free DDP. The meal was great, but the cost was too much. I will not go back because of the cost.

Hmmm.... that's odd....

I know if you have 6 or more, then they add 18%. It sounds like only 4 of you though.

we enjoyed our meals there. children as well, especially the bread (so they kept bringing more out). we've gone a few times and found it to be a pleasant experience overall.

before we leave the restaurant i check to see the final charge and leave with a copy of that receipt. this way when it's time to check out, there's no surprises.

so when we pay extra for the glow cubes in the drinks or something, and they add up :scared1: .....i have to pay out of pocket. it's fun while it lasts!!!:thumbsup2

but we'd dine there again.

I am not one to be deterred from trying a restaurant because I know how everyone's tastes are different. A friend of mine just ate there last week with a large party of 9 - and only 2 of them liked it. And for them, it was the atmosphere that they liked, rather than the food. My friend is a picky eater like I am and got the chicken skewers which she said were fine, and her husband got the lamb and said it was terrible. Not sure what everyone else ordered.

we went last year, me DH, DD7, DS4, DS4 we really enjoyed it. The only thing that bothered me was that we were the ONLY people in restaurant. In Disney, that scares me. Trip was the last week of Sept.

My kids got a lot of attention from the belly dancers and it was fun.

It's probably my least favorite in EPCOT. The atmosphere is ok: the belly dancing is a nice touch. But food-wise, I'm just not impressed... it's not especially bad, but there are far better options.

I know some people love the place, but I'd probably say that they're in the minority. I've eaten there numerous times- always because it was a quickly planned trip, and we didn't have ADR's... we've always been able to walk up and be seated immediately. It doesn't seem to attract the crowds. Has anyone ever seen a crowd there? Or not been able to get a table?

We really enjoy Restaurant Marrakesh and go most trips.
The restaurant is beautiful, the servers are warm and friendly, and the food is very good.
Enjoy

We enjoy this restaurant and our picky 7 yr old does too. They allow the Feast BUT they charge you an additional fee.I think it was an additional $5

DH and I went here on our anniversary trip. The atmosphere was okay, but we didn't like the food and we are pretty open eaters.
There is no way that I would take my picky kids here to eat. I look at the restaurant menus for every restaurant where we plan to go. If I can't find something for each kid, we don't go.
Sometimes my kids will order something off the kids menu. Since I paid adult prices for them on the DDP, I will pay OOP for their kids meal and save their Dining credit for later. (We always schedule more TS meals than we have credits for and pay OOP for a them)

Interesting strategy... I like it. :thumbsup2

My friend who at their last week as a party of 9 - they did not have ADRs. They walked up around dinner time (5ish) and they were able to seat a party of 9 with no problem. That has to say something about the place!

One of my Epcot favorites. Good food, beautiful resturant and the staff is very friendly and likes to talk about thier homeland if you ask.

It is generally a walk up except at VERY busy times probably because travelers look at the menu and panic "It's not what we eat at home" (If you only want to eat what you eat at home why do you travel?)

Don't they charge if you are on DDP? Not sure what OPs complaint really is. It's kind of hard to tell from the post.

If you are 6 or over - tip is automatically added @ 18%.

Under 6 people, you add the tip yourself.

In my opinion (not to turn this into a tipping debate) 18% is a bit high, depending on service.

We liked Marrakesh. VERY friendly service. Nice atmosphere. I thought the food was pretty good, actually. There are normal kids options. I had the lamb and liked it a lot. We paid extra for the Royal Feast. We will be returning there for the Candelight Processional dinner package in December.

On the tip issue, here in LA where I live, 18-20% is very standard for tip and I would tip that for anything other than horrible service.

We really wanted to like this place when we tried it last September, but it fell flat. We were given a table in the corner far away from the belly dancers. Service was very rushed, and not very friendly. Food was ok, pretty expensive for what you were getting. And the kids didn't like it either.

It's been a few years, but this has been one of my "must do" restaurants. But I'm the kind of person who will go out of my way to discover and enjoy things that are not the darlings of the DIS.

I love the couscous. So light! So fluffy! My couscous never turns out like that. How do they do it?

I also love the shish kabob. Meat on a skewer - what's not to like?

Edited to add:
I know I'm not a mod, but as a long-time board member I would like to offer a friendly reminder that tipping discussions are limited to the tipping thread at the top of the Restaurants board. There's lots of good information there. Further tipping opinions on this thread will likely get it locked.

Oddly, after a long time of not seeing any, this is the 2nd thread I have come across today that seems to be morphing into a tipping discussion.

I think the reason it is not so busy is because most people are not that adventurous with their eating.Look how many picky eater posts we get on these boards. There is a reason that places like Le Cellier fill up fast..Simple, meat and potatoes kind of food.
