:confused:I've been to disney nine good times and every year i pass up restaurant marrakesh. People say it's good but i look at the menu and nothing seems too appetizing. I'm curious about this place. what do you think about it and what's good there?:maleficen:simba::stitch::dumbo::figment::goofy::mickeyjum:tigger::sulley::donald::ccat:

Let me be honest, I asked all around about where people would recommend going in World Showcase for dinner and it was almost always a resounding Restaurant Marrakesh. I didn't want to try it because the menu didn't look appetizing and the idea of trying something /that/ new almost scared me a bit too much.

But day of, I listened to the wonderful concierge at the hotel and made reservations for that evening and I was so glad that we did. While I was getting food anxiety (while I love trying new things, the idea of eating at a restaurant completely out of my comfort zone scared me), the atmosphere was fun. It was a bit loud, but the service was great and the music/dancing was an added bonus.

As for the food, it was very good. I got the seafood bastilla (pastry filled with grouper, shrimp, and mushroom) and while it did not look appetizing, it was wonderful. The flavor combinations were just lovely. Then for dinner I got the chicken couscous and the chicken was so moist (best chicken I had on the entire trip). I'd post pictures but they're not the greatest quality.

I'm going to jump on the recommendation bandwagon and say go for it. (=

I really enjoyed it. The lamb shank was delicious! My husband on the other hand hated it and says he will not go back. He is a steak and potato guy and has no sense of adventure. The service was excellent. I think that you should try it!!!

I was so nervous about trying it, but my husband and I decided to live dangerously and give it a try. I had the lemon chicken and it was absolutely delicious. My husband had the Shish Kebab which was also fantastic. A really great restaurant, very nice atmosphere too. I would go back this year if we have time.

We went a few weeks ago and we really enjoyed it. It seemed a little silly to go all the way to Florida just to eat at a Morroccan restaurant named Marrakesh that has a belly dancing show considering we have just such a restaurant here in D.C. The one here has long been a fave of mine -- actually I had my bridal shower/luncheon there with my girlfriends -- but we haven't been since we had kids. We figured that our girls would like the belly dancing and I knew they would enjoy the food. (They are extremely picky eaters but I know they love couscous, LOL.) We all really enjoyed the food and my girls LOVED the belly dancer. They were actually excited to have a change of pace from all the chicken nuggets and cheese pizza from all the other kids menus. The restaurant itself is also quite beautiful. My girls felt very fancy and now one of them wants to be a belly dancer when she grows up. :)

I would highly recommend it. If you have a meat-and-potatoes kind of person, just order the shish kebab, which is actually what I had for my entree and it was delicious. I had read in reviews that the bastilla is dry so I did not order that as it's a fave and I didn't want it if it wasn't going to be good.

I was nervous too, but my DH was adamant we try it..We LOVED it .I had the lemon chicken, and Dh had one of the combo platters.Very good ,great atmosphere and the belly dancer was fun for my daughter..However, if you are expecting traditional Morroccan, or have had traditional Morroccan, you may be disappointed since they tone down the spices.

Hey people, stop telling people about restaurant Marrakesh. It used to be our little secret. If:rolleyes1 people keep telling everyone how great it is, it will be hard to get a table. :rolleyes1

This is a family favorite amongst our immediate family and my DH's family. Our menu favorites are the soup (so good with the bread!), lamb, and couscous (my kids' favorite). We have been there many times and have yet to have a bad experience. :thumbsup2

We really enjoyed it. During the bellydancing show they tried to get my kids up and dance with them (my kids dont do that :)) I cant remember what we had but everyone ate everything.

The only thing I didnt like was that we were the only ones in the restaurant. That always freaks me out. It makes me wonder why no one else is there.

Haha that's what I was thinking! Marrakesh is one of those restaurants that always has a table if needed. I think part of it is location... it's tucked so far back and a lot of people are "scared." But seriously, try it. Couscous is just little balls of pasta. Chicken tastes just like chicken. And the vegetables are your basic onions, peppers, and the like. Combine these ingredients and you have the Chicken Couscous. Doesn't sound so bad now, right? Plus it's DELICIOUS! Even my father who fears Chinese food loves this place. And if you like mint tea get theirs to drink. Soooo refreshing!

4tinkerbe- (and everyone else) I realized this is OT, but I'm new to this board and am just learning how to navigate it so forgive me... but where do you guys find all these cute little bouncing Disney characters on your posts?

LOL! agreed. It's a great restaurant, and the atmosphere is wonderful. I actually think some people skip it because they think its too adventurous, but it's really not. There's something for everyone. Give it a try, but don't tell anyone else about it! ;)

When you go to post a reply to a post a set of "Smilies" will come up on the right side of the screen - you just click on any of them and they will show up in your post - If you want to add them to your signature - click on the User CP at the top of the page - then click edit signature - you can then add them to you signature and they will show up on any of your posts. :goodvibes Hope that helps!
Now back to your regularly scheduled Marrakesh reviews - :)

Haha I agree :lmao:

I love love love eating here, its a must do! yum!!!!!!!!!!

This has been a few years ago now, but we ate at Marrakesh on both trips and really enjoyed it - I didn't know I liked lamb before this. :) Both times, we had the "Royal Feast," which involves a variety of things served family style, with roast lamb and lemon chicken as the entrees - all very good. And count me as another vote for the seafood bastilla, and iced mint tea!
