I was wondering how is the food is at Restaurant Marrakesh. DH and I have never had Morocco food before. If DH and I go here, its gonna cost us about $100 including tax & tip and wanna make sure that the food is good enough for a $100 meal, unless we decide to go for a late lunch / early dinner, that way if we go during lunch hours it wont cost as much. Does anyone know what the lunch and dinner hrs are. I looked on the menu and it doesnt say. Also it says ADRs arent needed, but would you recommend I still made a ADR? Can you tell me how the following is:

Beef Brewat Roll - what exactly does this taste like?
Chicken Kebabs
Shish Kebab
Jasminas Salad - whats all in the salad and what is the dressing they put on?
Bastilla

We ate at Marrakesh. The restuarant was gorgeous. The food was good. Not one of my favorites but very good. It is definetly an enjoyable experience.

Chicken Kebabs are excellent! It's my favorite dish there. The chicken is grilled, has a great flavor, and is served over a bed of rice.
I would make an ADR just in case. Usually the restaurant is one of the least crowded in Epcot, but if you are going during peak time, it may be crowded. They have a belly dancer there and play live music while she is dancing, which adds to the experience.

I think you should have lunch there. If it is just the two of you, $100 is very steep for the type of food you get. It costs about $100 for 2 people to eat at Jiko and the food is far superior to Restaurant Marrakesh. I have eaten lunch and dinner in Morocco, and felt the lunch menu was a better value, and the portions are about the same at both meal times.

Marrakesh is one of our 'must do' restaurants. We love the decor. entertainment, food & waitstaff.

We do go only at lunch times & eat at opening, 11:30/Noon or around 2 pm.
Most times we make ADRs a day or 2 before--but we travel during the 'low' periods! With popular periods, & the possibility of 'free dining' we now make our ADRs (depending on the restaurant & times we want) a few months out.

We do not find the food in Marrakesh spicy at all. You can ask for your dish to be more authentically spiced.

One of my favorite desserts is the fruit 'salad', the dressing is marvelous, featuring orange blossom water--mmm. Extremely refreshing.
DS18 & I also like the Moroccan mint iced tea.
I enjoy the Lemon Chicken~

Actually the restaurant is quite affordable, there is a 'Sultan's Sampler'--about $20 & also a Chef's special, which is somewhere between $17 - $20.00 per person & includes an appetizer, entree & dessert.

It is one of my (and DH's) favorite restaurants on Disney property. We have had all of the dishes you listed.. which are just incredible. And I can be a picky eater. lol

Do they still serve lunch around 3:30? Im not sure what time their dinner starts and I would much rather go for a late lunch and make it our dinner to make it cheaper. Going by most places in WDW, dinner usually starts between 4 and 4:30pm. So Im gonna guess marrakesh is the same way?

We had a late lunch there is September. Marrakesh was a nice dining experience for us. The food was good and the atmosphere very unique. The live performers and belly dancer was really enjoyable. Brewat beef is a sweet, phyllo wrapped roll, similar to an egg roll but lighter. The sweetness is more of a honey/cinnamin sweet although not like a pastry. This is at least what I remember it as when we were there last.

Shish Kabob is a preparation when the marinated beef or chicken is put on skewers and broiled. Usually fresh vegetables are put on the skewer, too.

I like that Marrakesh is much quieter and more serene than many of the other WS restaurants.

If you go, please let us know what you think.

Do you remember what time your ADR was or what time they stopped serving lunch?

We ate there two weeks ago and the food was good but not great. The music was loud and there was no way you could talk over it. The belly dancer danced a very short time and was gone for the rest of the meal. I doubt I would return there for a meal.

My biggest problem was a disagreement with some information I was given for the CandleLight Processional package. I was told one thing when I confirmed the reservation with my credit card and another thing when we ordered our dinners.

It was very upsetting to everyone in our party. I asked to speak to a manager away from table area so as not to further ruin our meal or the meal of those around us. The manager was not helpful. I am not sure if it was because I was a woman or exactly what the problem was but he informed me that I had been misinformed and he would not help me. I told him I was not happy. That the information I was given was what I had planned my meal schedule around and that I had no control over the fact that he felt I was misinformed by Disney's ADR CM's. I finally walked away from him in disgust.

Our server tried to apoligise but said he could do nothing. As our meal ended the manager said that he had spoken to a man in the CP office and that I should head to that office and discuss the matter with him. I did that after our meal and found that the manager had out and out lied to the CP office about our situation. Now I was a very unhappy camper!

The CP office fixed our problem and handled it like professionals. The Restaurant Marrakesh manager is officially on my crap list. I do not deal well with liars!:sad2:

We didn't like it at all! The food was lousy and the service was awful. The server was not only slow, but kinda rude as well!

One thing I can say is that we have never returned and never intend to, but just so you know we haven't dined there since 2004, so maybe it has improved, but that was one of the worst meals we have had in WDW since we have been going, so that is why we do not plan on giving it a second chance.

Beef brewat roll was okay, but we had 2 of the chicken dishes, and they were really dry. Not enough spice either, IMO.
Belly dancing was entertaining.
Service was rather cool and indifferent.

:

Hated the 5 minutes we were there. Music was so loud we couldn't talk, I actually had a headache after a few minutes. We were seated in the back corner, tables on top of each other and couldn't see anything anyway, so we walked out.

I ate their on 9/1 this year and absolutely HATED it!!!! I was so disappointed in this place. I really wanted to love it! Everything we ordered was dryer than dry...no joke. The server was nice enough, but REALLY REALLY slow. DD2 danced with the Belly Dancer, so that was cute. Other than that, it was an awful experience. We won't be going back until they change the menu completely! :lmao:

We went in Jan 2007 and it was the worst meal during that trip. I had a sampler of some sort. The soup was good...but everything else was bland and/or cold and greasy. I loved the look of the place..but won't go back. Now..on the other hand I thought the counter service area here was great in 2006.

I resisted going to Morroco for dinner but after some proding I went and I was delightfully surprised. The food was great and the entertainment was awesome. Keep in mind, you can drop $25-$30 for a counter meal thats only marginal.

I agree - the counter service is much better than the TS. Although we had really great service, the food was just okay in the restaurant. We will only do the counter service in the future. My recommendation is not to spend the higher $$ on the table service and try the short order Moroccan food.

Chicken Bastilla can be very good, or very very bad. I know the idea of powdered sugar, cinnamon and chicken seems...well..weird -- like candied chicken :rotfl: The first time I had it, the phyllo was perfect, and the combination of flavors was perfectly balanced. The second time I had it, the cinnamon and sugar were very strong and the pyllo cold and oily. I've never had it in Epcot, but I honestly am not sure I would. The restaurants there don't strike me as having the time to approach these things carefully.

I can say that the idea of paying over $20 for a kebab, esp. a chicken one, made me snort out loud. For my own tastes, I'd far rather eat the shawarma platter at the counter restaurant (and not just b/c of price, but also b/c of taste preference) than an overpriced kebab. Though if prepared right, the lemon chicken on the menu sounds good.

I wouldn't go back there--NOT EVER AGAIN. Our food was horrible, dry, bland and cold. It was the worst meal we had our entire stay. For the money, you can do better that is for sure. I would have much rather have had any counter service meal in the entire WDW complex than what I ate there. I know a bit about food and this was a waste of my money!

Every trip to WDW we go there. Wouldn't miss it. We always have the lunch, and service is excellent. Over the years we have eaten there about 25 times. In my opinion, it is the best restaurant on site. The decor, service, ambience, food, everything has always been great. Once we had a server with a bit of an attitude, but we still enjoyed the dining experience. This is the closest I will ever likely get to the middle east, so I always ask questions about their country, culture, religion, etc. I learned how to say hello in Arabic. Maybe that helps. Salam wa lay cum . (I can't spell it- only say it:rotfl: )

If you're not sure whether you're even going to like Moroccan food or not, I'd 'test drive' the taste buds at Tangerine Cafe.

Make the ADR for Marakkesh for later in the week - along with a backup ADR somewhere else, then do Tangerine for lunch earlier in the week. If you like it, then keep the ADR, if not, cancel.

We love Tangerine, haven't don't Marakkesh yet, but just because we're cheapskates!
