Which would you choose for a dinner - we have never been to either - and which one would best be able to work with someone in our party who has a very non adventurous palate. Is there a "normal" dish in your opinion that is served at one of these places there that you could recommend?

I have looked at the menus on allears but wanted some actual opinions from people who ate there.

I personally haven't eaten at either, but my parents would say Marrakesh. It's their favorite restaurant in all of Disney.

Like all Disney dining experiences, Marrakesh offers just enough of an adventure to make it memorable, but is "safe" enough for the average person. The dishes here are probably as far from an american opportunity as you will get.

Nine Dragons is closer to what you may get in your hometown at the local carryout. it is very good and a good atmmosphere.

If you are not into "different" tastes and unusual coffee, go to Nine Dragons.

We love Marrakesh. My whole family is big on Morracan food. Oddly enough when we lived in Delaware we weren't far from a great Morracan restaurant. I recommend the chicken couscous at Marrakesh. I'm not normally a couscous fan but the stuff at Marrakesh is great.

We enjoy Marrakesh both in taste and entertainment. The music and belly dancer is entertainting! The food is Morrocan but truly an Americanized version, and not so spicy. We love the Lamb Shank Cous-Cous and the Roaster Lamb Meshoui is simply flavorfull, served on cous-cous. There's a tomato, lamb and lentil soup that my DS(13) absolutely loves. The Merguez Sausage appetizers are a little spicy but so good. We aren't dessert people, so can't help you there. If we can't do dinner there we make sure to get to Tangeriene Cafe for lunch.

We enjoy Marrakesh and my daughter is not a very adventurous eater. Nine Dragons is pretty standard Chinese - about what you would get at a restaurant in your home town. We'd pick Marrakesh just because we have several Chinese restaurants but not a Morrocan one in the area. On the other hand, if your non-adventurous eater wants to be sure of what to expect Chinese might be safer.

we loved nine dragons.

now we're vegetarians...

so this next trip, we won't be doing either.

When I was pregnant I didn't digest meat very well and I had the Vegetable cous-cous at Marrakesh, it's very good. My good friend always gets the Tofu Stir Fry at Nine Dragons, I won't eat it but she loves it. The Vegan options have greatly improved over the years! :thumbsup2

Marrakesh for me.

You can get average Chinese food every day of the week.

How often can you get middle eastern food and an attractive belly dancer ;)?

I like them both but Marakesh would be more like 'vacation' to me since you can get Chinese food most anywhere but Moroccan, not so much.

I ate CS my first trip to Marakesh and when I got to the register, the CM from Morocco was I have to say one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen! I was actually speechless for a moment! Oh...

the food was good too!:thumbsup2

We ate at Nine Dragons in June..there is a reason this place is always available for reservations at short notice...it is disgusting.

I would go to Marrakesh!

Another vote for Marrakesh! I agree you can usually get better chinese food at home. Marrakesh has a vacation feel with it, with good food.

Be sure to look at Steve Soares site to verify what time the belly dancer is on - so you book close. I didn't - I thought she was always on. We nearly missed her. Were getting ready to leave when the server suggested we hang around another 20 minutes for the show. I'm glad we did. It adds to the entertainment. She dances, then invites kids up for a lesson. The dancer was super nice. And the video of my DD (only one was brave enough) dancing with her is priceless to us.

Also a vegetarian here and I always order the veggie couscous at Marakkesh. SO delicious! Defintiely choose Marakkesh over Nine Dragons!

I thought she danced once every hour?

Not every hour. Our ADR was at 3:30. We were getting ready to leave about 4:40, never seeing the dancer. Our waitress suggested we stay - as she was due to come out at 5:00 pm.

Here is the information from Steve Soares website:

Never been to Nine Dragons, but I was very underwhelmed with the food at Marrakesh, but I did enjoy the dancing/music.

I've read the menu and this has always bothered me, because the description for both of these dishes is exactly the same. Anybody know the difference in presentation, portion size, etc.? There is a $1 price-differential.

I have eaten at both back as a teenager. Marrakesh left an impression on me that I have eaten in it repeatively as an adult. I totally love it. It is probably in my top ten easily. Nine Dragons I barely remember. I have never been back as an adult. There are better places outside of the parks. Chans and Mings over in the asian district for starters. Mings even does made to order dim sum at night.

Marrakesh! We ate dinner there in March 2008. We didn't have an ADR and almost every restaurant in World Showcase was booked so Marrakesh was pretty much our only option. My family and I are NOT adventurous eaters so we were VERY hesitant and did not have high expectations. We were also concerned as to why it was the only restaurant that had open tables at the last minute.

None of us had ever eaten Moroccan food. We were pleasantly surprised! We all loved the food, the atmosphere, and the entertainment. I had the chicken couscous and it was fantastic. As the previous posters stated....Chinese food is easier to come by than Moroccan food, so I would vote on trying something a little more exotic!!

PS - We are returning to WDW in March and I've already made an ADR here ;) Wouldn't miss it!
:thumbsup2

Never been to Marrakesh, did not think I would like the belly-dancing w/dinner :)

We like 9 Dragons. It is not the best Chinese food by any means, but it is good and consistent. Also quiet in there and we have always had excellent service!
