Restaurant in World Showcase with a toddler?

Hello!

We made an ADR for Tutto Italia but I'm
rethinking it since we have a 2 year old. We really wanted to do a sit down restaurant in the World Showcase (not the Biergarten though). Any recommendations for a sit down in World Showcase? Or what about walking to the Big River Brew Pub at the Boardwalk? DH thinks it's too far to walk but I'm trying to convince him it can't be too far!

Thanks!

We did Le Cellier with our 3yo last year and he loved it, especially the chocolate "moose". We did lunch so I am not sure if that made the difference or not.

We also did dinner at Coral Reef and the tank kept him very entertained while we enjoyed our meal. :goodvibes

I was going to suggest Coral Reef in Future World. :thumbsup2

Marrakesh in Morraco has belly dancing and music to entertain children, at Chef's de France you can ask for a window table and let them people watch during the meal, Teppan Edo is an interesting show- but not good if they might try and touch the grill. A lot depends on how long a meal yous child can handle and how much exposure he has had to longer sit down meals.

The big thing is a willingness on your part to take care of removing the child from the restaurant if they are creating a disturbance.

We will be eating at Tutto Monday with our three kids, one of which is 2 and a handful! I figure, it's Disney, they have to be used to kids and their antics! Of course we will do our best to keep her seated and happy, but again, it is WDW and they have to be ready for children.

Akershus in Norway is a sit-down meal with the Disney princesses. They may keep your 2-year-old distracted throughout the meal. You guys would probably enjoy it too! I think you also get a photo included with the meal.

I have 2 small children. Our first trip at Disney with them, they were 1 and 3 and we went to Biergarten (but I know you said not Biergarten). Honestly, I would have taken them to any TS in the World Showcase except for Bistro de Paris. In July, we have 3 Epcot days planned and plan to take them to Akershus, Chefs de France and either Biergarten again or maybe San Angel Inn. They will be 3 and 5 when we go in July. They are used to going out to eat since they were babies and behave very well in restaurants. The odd time they get unruly, I take them out to the lobby and have a talk with them (this has not happened yet with both children at the same time though and DH stays with the other one or we take turns). Usually they will calm down within a few minutes. I also try and keep them busy with things like a small toy or crayons. Many of the servers are very good with the kids as well.

Askerhus, its a princess charector meal so the entertainment is included. The food is good, the prices not that bad your child will eat off the buffet or your plates for free. They are used to and expect children and there will be other children around so you and your child should not feel out of place.

It's not in World Showcase, but Coral Reef might be entertaining with the fish. My 3 year old loved it.

San Angel in Mexico is great for kids, and (although not in World Showcase) Garden Grill is our kids' favorite (they like the characters and the food.)

I also thought I'd add a note about our experience at Tutto with our three boys, including our 2-year-old, earlier this year. I've always found Disney TS restaurants in World Showcase are great for kids - it's Disney! Tutto was the exception - the cast members were really uppity and seemed annoyed by our kids and the children around us (and everyone was quiet and well-behaved.) So although the food was good, we just didn't enjoy it very much. I used to love Tutto, and maybe this was an unusual experience, but we don't plan to return with kids.

I'd love to hear about Big River Brew Pub, if anyone has been there!

We went last January with our 6,4, and 2 yr olds and had dinner at Chefs de France. THEY LOVED IT!!! Then we walked outside and watched Illuminations. DH has decided that we must do this at least once every trip.

We were there a year ago with my 2 1/2 year old nephew. We ate at Marrakesh, Biergarten, Teppan Edo, and 'Ohana with him. He never had a problem. I'd say if your kids are used to eating out you should be able to take them almost anywhere on Disney property.

As for your other question, the Boardwalk is about a 10 minute walk (maybe less) out the 'back entrance' of Epcot. It is a nice stroll and an interesting place to see.

In May, we traveled with DD (just turned 3 a few days before the trip) and DS (4 months at the time we traveled). We had no problems at the WS restaurants, including Tutto Italia, Le Celier, and Teppan Edo. The servers were all friendly and accommodating and kept the meals from getting TOO long.

If the Tutto Italia menu appeals to you the most (and from my experience, it was great!), then I would stick with the original plan.

We are taking our DS5 and DS2 to Le Cellier, Tutto Italia, Marrakesh, and Akershus in the World Showcase. I find that as long as the boys are eating at their normal time, they are fine no matter where we go. I agree with one of the PP's, though - be prepared to take your child out if he is disruptive. Have a great trip! :goodvibes

Anything you do in the parks with the exception of Le Bistro is fine with a two year old...pick what you want and enjoy.

I agree with Teppan Edo...

My DS (now 17) always loved hibachi...although you may need to warn them of the fire.....(DS has been 10 times and Teppan Edo is a tradition for us)

It's very visual and entertaining....i think your kids would love it ...and it's a WDW tradition for us...

Disney Hugs,
mary
