Restaurant for "nice" adult meal?

Looking for suggestions for a nice meal out away from the kids one night during our Disney vacation for myself and my husband. We like lots of different foods and atmospheres, and I haven't been out sans kids much to restaurants around Disney. Any top choices? Thanks!

We are staying at the CBR, but are willing to travel to enjoy a nice meal. Getting an in-room sitter one night. I am looking at a mid priced meal (certainly Not counter service, but not quite Victoria and Alberts, I think!) that might provide a nice change of pace for us.

We always recommend Artist Point for dinner without kids. Very good food and atmosphere and the Wilderness Lodge is our favorite. Great place to stroll around either before or after dinner and just mellow out and take in the atmosphere.

You beat me to it! I was going to suggest AP also. It's our fav. WDW restaurant.

Thanks for the AP suggestion-that is one I don't know too much about so I will look into it. It isn't complicated to get there from CBR, is it? I assume I can take a bus but I know sometimes it isn't direct, or you have to switch. But hey, for a good meal and good atmosphere, I'll do it! What would you recommend there? (for food) Thanks!

DS & I love the cedar plank salmon, and DH usually orders the special for the night. The berry cobbler is wonderful. Not like any I ever tasted. I've never gone there from CBR. Hopefully someone can help you with transportation. Enjoy!

Citrico's at the GF is also really nice, but relaxed at the same time. And the food is wonderful too!

I love Artist Point too- so either choice would be a good one...

Flying Fish is really good too, but it gets a bit noisy.

Artist Point at the WL is nice. My DH and I enjoyed a meals there without the kids one trip.

If you go from CBR to another resort, it isn't a direct route. If you don't take a taxi you will have to go to a park that is open and take a bus/monorail/boat to the appropiate resort that you have dinner at. If the parks aren't open, then go to DTD and take a bus to the resort. The DTD buses run until 2:00 am.. Maybe someone else knows something better.

It took us 4 trips to disney this year before we tried Le Cellier and I regret it took so long. Absolutely fabulous and I loved the atmosphere.

In my opinion, The California Grill is the best restaurant at WDW. Maybe one of the best in Orlando. The food is consistantly wonderful and creative and the view is incredible. Time it right and you can watch the fireworks at the MK.

There are many more good restaurants at WDW than there used to be, but CA Grill is the most world class cool.

California Grill would be our favorite adult-ish place. Interesting menu, good wines by the glass, and some spectacular appetizers. It's in a big room on the top of the Contemporary that overlooks the lagoon and the MK. (If you like sushi, it's a must-do, but there's plenty on the menu if you don't.)

Narcoose's is nice, although the food gets mixed reviews from some.

Both of these are in the "expensive" category, but not quite in V&A stratosphere. I think there are a lot of restaurants in WDW where you don't quite get your money's worth. (Flying Fish included -- hope I don't take too much flak for that one.) But dollar for dollar, in my opinion, California Grill is the best.

You have plenty of choices, but some would take time to get to w/o a car.
Anyway, Jiko or California Grill would be my two recommendations.

DissyLove, Artist Point is where I first tried buffalo! It was very good. I'm allergic to salmon, but I hear it is excellent there...(it is their signature dish). Pork chop is very good as well.
And again, if you've never been to Wilderness Lodge, it is stunning. We like to take the elevator to some of the upper floors, then lounge out in one of the little sitting areas they have overlooking the massive lobby. Romantic! Such a peaceful setting.
(P.S....never ate at California Grill, but hear it is excellent as well.)

I'm also voting Artist Point, although I love the California Grill as well. We first ate at Artist Point last year when we were staying at CBR, so I'll ring in on the transportation issue.

We took the CBR bus to the Magic Kingdom, then took the boat launch from MK to the Wilderness Lodge. I have this recorded as one of the most magical parts of that trip .. sun just starting to set, warm weather, sailing past the Contemporary .. it was great.

After dinner, we planned to take the bus to DTD to do some shopping befor heading back to CBR. The bus to DTD, unfortunately, is WL's weak link (we've found this to be kinda always true since we've stayed at WL since then). What we did instead was to take the TTC bus that comes to the WL, and walk from there over to the Polynesian. Then we took their (strangely more reliable) bus to DTD.

If I was planning a night out, though, (and you were game for using that transportation plan), might I suggest dinner at AP, then over to the Polynesian for dessert at Kona? Yummy food, and great atmospheres, plus a visit to both super-romantic resorts. Sounds like fun to me.

My wife and I love the Artist Point. Nice, romantic setting and a good wine list. The resort is beautiful to tour as well.

Us too!!! Last trip, our kids went into the Cub's Den and had a great time! They wanted to go back again (not at $10 an hour...once was plenty that trip!)

We love Artist Point...food, service, atmosphere all wonderful!!

oh, and I recommend the Smoked Portabello Mushroom soup as an appetizer (unbelievably incredible!!) and the berry cobbler for dessert (superb!!) The meal is a toss-up...I loved the filet and my dh had the buffalo and really enjoyed it.

Can't wait to hit the Dis again to eat at our fav. place!!

Artist's Point is definitely on our list to try next time.

We enjoyed a scrumptious steak at Shula's for our night out. AND they offer FREE child care at the hotel (I think it's at the Dolphin).
