Has anyone been able to figure out the actual savings that you come out with when using the restaurant.com $50 certificate? Since you have to spend $100 minimum, whats the actual saving % you get at the end? :confused3

I would prefer to use my AAA just to get 10-15% off, but it seems like AAA no longer really gets discounts anywhere I ask. Even when their website says they are suppose to accept my card I get turned away or receive conflicting info. It's such a bummer.

Are there any decent dinner buffets to check out on property for under 25 dollars? I am trying to find a meal to splurge on when me and a friend get to Disney World without having to spend all my budget money(or at least save as much money as I can with one meal). I was being picky and wanted sit down, but I guess if all else fails I'll just suggest EOS for a cheaper meal.

It's his first time at Disney so I was hoping to avoid any restaurant we can eat at at home.

Thanks!

The savings % would depend on the amount that you spent at the restaurant and the amount that you paid for the certificate.

For instance, if you got the $50 GC for $10, and you spent $100 exactly on the meal, your total OOP cost would be $60 ($10 for the GC + $50 overrage on the meal). That's a 40% savings.

If you spent $25 on the GC and you spend more than $100 on the meal, your savings % would be lower.

It's definitely a case of YMMV and everyone has to do their own math.

A dinner buffet ON property for an adult will run you about double your desired cost ($50+ /per person once you add in tax and tip), so if you want a dinner buffet for under $25, you'll have to think off-site.

One of my favorite, off-site close-to-Disney dinner buffets which IS a chain, but not a huge one (ie - it doesn't have that many locations in the US, so it may be new to you) is Sweet Tomatoes. It is fresh, as light or heavy as one wants, and they are always running coupons.

Here's a list of the buffet/all-you-can-eat restaurants that are onsite.

The only one that would come close to your budget would be Trails End at Fort Wilderness, and even that goes above your $25 pp limit once you add tax and tip into the price.

Don't forget that you can get Restaurant.com gift cards on Raise.com for nearly nothing (95% off).

there are all kinds of way to save on eating if you plan your meals off-site. The first thing to do is look at lists of places that you want to eat and sign-up for their email lists. Many times they will send you great coupons. I know that sweet tomatoes and fuddruckers which are both in the crossroads shopping plaza across from DTD use to send coupons when you sign-up. Make sure you don't sign-up too soon before you leave so they don't expire. Steak and shake is another place that is pretty cheap and has great coupons.

If you are looking for cheap, but not great food, golden corral and cici's pizza are just down the road. Both are filling and not too expensive.

Marionette, so essentially our best discount amount would be if we spend 100 dollars exactly?

Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer and give suggestions. Unfortunately we are in the SE so sweet tomatoes, fudruckers, Steak and Shake, and alot of other chains in the Orlando area are very common where I am from as well. We eat there all the time, I'm getting kinda tired of their stuff actually. :rotfl:

I think we'll try to find some more local type places off site to check out. Guess it's a good excuse to take a trip to a nearby brewery.

We used the HOB cert and it included alcohol so it was easy for us to reach the $100. There were 3 of us, we felt it was worth it and I had purchases the cert with a promo code.

No. Your "discount" is the difference between a $50 voucher credit and what you paid for that voucher. If you paid $10 for a $50 voucher, your discount is $40. That doesn't change if you spend $100 or $200. Your discount is $40. Period.

You asked about percentages in your OP. I assume that it's because you want to compare the different discounts you have available. Your greatest percentage off the total bill using a restaurant .com GC will be if you keep the total as close to $100 as you can.

But really, like I said before, you have to do your own math.

We ran a story this week that mentioned using Restaurant.com and we got a handful of angry calls from people who said they felt it was a ripoff. A lot of things hidden in the fine print that forced you to spend a whole lot more than you thought you would have to.
Anyone has experience with restaurant.com?
