restaurant.com recommendations in Disney area

I get a lot of restaurant.com certificates. I have gone to HOB twice. And since I always stay off site, I like to try new and different restaurants. Last trip we tried The Wine Bistro, it's in the new Target plaza on 192 near Orange Lake. Wonderful place, family owned. We had a large antipasto platter and 2 bottles of wine, it was plenty.
Also tried Tarantino's Italian restaurant. It's a little farther down 192 but the food was excellent.

Thanks for the ideas! We stay off Formosa Gardens near 192 so maybe we'll check those out!! Are they kid friendly?;)

When we went to the Essence of the Vine Wine Bistro, it was almost empty. I'm sure kids would be fine but it does cater to an older crowd. Going early should lessen the chance of loud patrons.
Tarantino's was a great family place.

I've used restaurant.com gift certificates at House of Blues, Giraffe Cafe at the Royal Plaza Hotel in Downtown Disney, and Kimonos.
House of Blues: food was very good, service was excellent. The children's chicken tenders dinner was huge, my 5 yr DS could not eat even half of it, and since we were going to Disney Quest and shopping afterwards, we could not take it to go.
Giraffe Cafe : food was OK, nothing extraordinary, service was very slow. Big portions which gave us leftovers to eat the next day.
Kimonos: fantastic service and sushi. Can't wait to go back! We went in December 2010, and at that time, they did not take reservations, I don't know if they do in the summer. Also, they had mostly cooked sushi, so you may want to check a current menu if you like more of the raw stuff.
I agree with pp that you should wait until the 80% sale, they do have one at least once a month.
Enjoy!

well, I just want to let you all know that we just used a rest. com at Garden Grove for their BBQ Buffet and I hated it. The quality was terrible. With the25.00 coupon, we both had water our bill was 49.00. (included the mandatory gratuity) Definately NOT worth it. They were supposed to have Prime Rib.. I love Prime rib Dh is not a lover of it, so I had 3 servings.. actually 3 small slices. the first 2 were so well done it grew while I was chewing it..yuck. the third was so rare I could not eat it.. and I love rare meat..double yuck! The ribs were dry.. and not fall off the bone tender.. The pulled pork was ok.. and edible they had mashed potatoes and corn, baked beans, green bean casserole, potatoe salad, corn/bean salsa and a passable dessert bar. HONESTLY, I would have much rather just ate ribs at Flame tree. I know those are good, that meal would have been less expensive and less of a hassel to get to. I wont be going back. WE did have GREAT meal at House of Blues! Going to LOGAN's today, they have a Memorial day special buy one get one free! ( this has not been a good trip for good meals )

Adding that this meal did have characters.. Pluto and Goofy.. so if it's Characters you want.. they were good, and interacted well.. were cute.. and spent time with everyone.

just another vote for house of blues:woohoo:
we eat there every trip. lunch is a bit cheaper, and they have the half price drinks around 4-6pm or so (i had a margarita since my regular drink, vodka gimlet:love:, was of course not included)
for 2 ppl, 2 entrees and drinks, we normally get over the required $35, and the bill will tax and tip is about $25-30. remember that tip is included (check your bill) so you don't wind up double-tipping.
btw, we didn't care for il mulano at the swolphin. it is more upscale, with attentive waitstaff, cloth napkins;), but the food simply didn't live up to the atmosphere or rather high prices. food wasn't bad - it was just run of the mill average, with nondescript sauces, and almost bland taste.
hth:)

I need a little clarification. Can I use a GC at HOB one night and use another at Garden Grove the next night?

Someone told me that you can only use one GC per month per account. I thought that meant per restaurant. So I know I can't eat 2 nights in a row at HOB using GC but I can use the GC at 2 different restaurants even if I bought them on the same account. Or should I create DH an account?

Your limit is 1 per month per restaurant. So you are fine if you use one at HoB and one at Garden Grove. You just can't use 2 at HoB in one month.

Hope that helps :)
