I am planning a surprise trip for my two DD's(12 and 8) Jan. 21 -24. I want to take them to a character breakfast on monday morning the 24th. We are staying at the boardwalk inn and I have narrowed my choices down to Cape may at BC, and Restaurant Akershus at Epcot. Any feedback about either one of these would be great. I noticed that Restaurant Akershus is now requiring a down payment similar to Cinderellas castle. Does that mean it is a tough ticket? Thanks in advance for your help.

I think it depends on if you want the princesses or minnie. PSB has gotten some really good reviews. PSB requires you to give cc# but they don't actually charge you a deposit like CRT. PSB is getting tougher to get, so I would book at 90 days out, which you are passed. I would try to see if you can get it, if not then go with Cape May.

We tried to get PSB on 1/17 when calling last month, but it was fully booked. So I do not expect that will be an option. What I can say about PSB is that the food is really very good, and the character contact is great. Plus they have some of the "other" princesses, not just Cinderella, Belle, Snow White and Sleeping Beauty plus Mary Poppins, like they have at CRT. When we were last at PSB they had Aurora, Mulan, Jasmine, Snow White and I think Pocahontas, and a maybe couple more. Good character contact in any case. Probably too late. Cape May is an easier walk from BWI anyway.

Thanks for the replys. I am going to try for PSB. Your description of the possible character contacts, sounds just what my two girls would love. Thanks for that, Pumpkin boy. And if I have to settle for Cape May, we will enjoy that also. What a great place when what you have to settle for, is still totally awesome.

Just wanted to mention that PSB is pre-plated and Cape May is a buffet.

PSB has princesses usually Sleeping Beauty, Belle, Snow White, Jasmine and Mulan...sometimes Mary Poppins or Alice are there...

Cape May is Minnie, Goofy, Chip and Dale and maybe Pluto.

I've eaten at PSB 4 times now and we've finally had enough. We go for the Princesses, not the food. My 5 year old at absolutely nothing every time we went (last time being this November 3rd). She's picky. She wouldn't even eat the cinnimon rolls. The food is Cinnimon rolls, assorted fruits, then cheese potatos, bacon, sausage, and scrambled eggs. My 8 year old didn't eat much either. She only liked the rolls, fruit and bacon. So because my 5 year old ate absolutely nothing, we won't be going back for a long time. It's such a waste of money for her.

At least at buffets, there are more choices.

I'm not trying to get you to not go to PSB but just wanted to tell you about the food.

I think it's great for meeting the princesses although this last trip I was not happy with Snow White or Sleeping Beauty. Snow White refused to sign my DDs autograph book when she saw that we used to book on a previous WDW trip; she just assumed we already had her autograph and Sleeping Beauty and Snow white were both very rushed and not friendly at all. Mulan and Jasmine and Belle were very nice though.

Have fun!

We did the PSB a few weeks ago (just 2 adults) and we had a blast. Food was good especially the cinnamon rolls and each princess spent time with us for picture taking. We really had a good time.

Thanks for all the varied replys. I am glad to hear both the positive and the negative. The preplated is something that i didn't consider. My girls can be picky eaters, and they always do better at buffets, but I think the princesses will be the deciding factor for me. Now I have to get off my tail and make the call.

kirbsam,
We'll be staying at the Boardwalk Villas and doing PSB on Tue., Jan. 25. Maybe we'll see you around.

Guess I didn't get off my tail soon enough. There were times available, but too late for us as our flight leaves at 1. Guess the girls are going to have to be ok with cape may. I know they will be totally happy with it. But sure wish the other could have worked out. does anybody think it pays to keep checking??

Yes, keep trying; especially 2 days before as that is the cancellation period for that restaurant so people might cancel then so as not to get their CC charged!

Good luck!

Definitely keep checking. For our trip earlier this month, I was not able to get either of the two days I wanted, but kept calling back and was finally able to get my second choice (which was not early entry). I think it is easier to get a non-early entry day ressie. I kept checking every day for a couple of weeks before I finally got it.
We enjoyed it. I love their cheese potatoes. The character interaction was good. My kids are picky and didn't eat a lot, but it was worth it for the characters. DD didn't eat much at CP or Chef Mickey's either, so the preplated thing was not a deciding factor for her.
