Hi all! I currently have a reservation for the Fort Wilderness Campground to camp in a pop up camper mid-end August. It will be me, DH, DD10, DD4 and DD2. Well...we just found out we are expecting #4 and to be quite honest the thought of camping without a bathroom in our popup in the dead heat of August is not thrilling this pregnant gal....:rotfl2:
Soooooo...I am going to cancel my reservation and book a townhouse/condo at Windsor Hills tonight. We've always stayed on property and have loved it...I just don't want to do the camping thing this time around. And after calling Disney and checking rates I can get such a better deal being offsite, not to mention more space.

Any opinions...or tips....or reassurances. I am going to do this either way...just thought I'd get your opinion on this, since you all are the experts. We will be driving down from NY regardless, so we will have our car to visit the parks.
Thanks :goodvibes

Congratulations on the new baby!!!! Girl I don't blame you at all for cancelling!! I would too! We too have always stayed onsite but are going offsite this time. We looked at Windsor Hills and the condos look really nice. We decided on Bonnet Creek because it seems to have more of a resort feel like the disney resorts do. But from what I hear you can't go wrong with windsor hills. I looked on Magical Vacations Homes website and they have nice ones for great prices. Good luck and have a fun trip!! :cool1:

You will love WH town house or condo. It's close to WDW and you will be very comfortable. No worries.

Thank You! Just checked out Bonnett Creek....looks fabulous....the lazy rivers are making rethink...lol! However, I think I am going to stay with Windsor Hills only because I am checking out the townhouses with a private pool. The thought of cooking dinner while my little ones can swim with DH, sounds so nice! And my DD11 will love the water slide!
Thank you again for the reassurances! :thumbsup2

Have you looked at Storytime rentals? They have gorgous Mickey/Disney themed townhomes with pools. Your kids would love them! I really wanted one of those but they were booked up for our dates.

I was super afraid to stay offsite! I almost did for our Oct '09 trip, then chickened out and went with a cabin at FW instead.
This last trip (April '12) we stayed at Wyndham Bonnet Creek for 10 nights. We LOVED it!!! I will never stay onsite again!!
Don't know anything about Windsor Hills, but I can relate to being afraid of off-site. Go for it!

Wow...those story time rentals are stunning! Unfortunately they are booked for our dates...bummer!

We stayed at the cabins two years ago....we loved it there, but don't feel like shelling out that much money this year :) Glad to hear all went well when you went offsite!

We rented with mickeysworld.net, unit 2 - great 3BR townhome, great location, great price.

It's booked throughout August but Unit 1, which is just about a block away (and close to main pool) is open 3rd week of August, if that helps.

windsorhillsrents is also a great site, where I originally found mickeysworld.

Having stayed on and off, the resort feel of WH and decor of units will have your kids oblivious to the fact they're not on property.

Best wishes

As a family of 6, we enjoy renting at Windsor Hills as much as staying on site. The cheaper price and added space is hard to pass by.:thumbsup2 Windsor Hills is so close, you will actually be home before some of the crowd using the buses heading back to their Disney Resorts. And having your own bedroom, bathroom, and a full kitchen is so relaxing. Especially after a long day in the parks. You'll love it. We've always had good success with vrbo.com FWIW

Thank you all so much for your input....I checked out unit 1 at mickeysworld.net. Awesome unit...we were planning on staying a bit longer than a week so unfortunately it won't work for us but THANKS :thumbsup2

I found a really nice unit on VRBO for under 1000 for 9 nights...I am going to scoop that one up! It is a short walk to the clubhouse and the playground!

So excited for this trip and thank you all for being so helpful and welcoming!
