Ressies for 5, and only 4 show... Will they take us??

OK... Here's my question for the WDW dining experts:

I've been planning an October "07 trip for many months. I have ADRs for 5 people at some hard-to-get spots like Boma, 'Ohanas, CP, etc.

Now my mom is sick, and may not be able to make the trip with my family of 4. If we 4 show up at a restaurant where we have ressies for 5, does anyone know if they will still take us? I don't want to cancel or modify my ADRs in case my mom CAN make it... WWYD????

Sorry that your Mom is not able to make it.

I really dont know for certain but I assume they will still take you. I called yesterday to see if I can change one ADR from 5 to 3. The CM told me that if I did that, I would lose my ADR. She said to just inform them at the podium of the change and they will make the accomadations.

Of course they will take you. I would not try to modify your ADRs, unless you have an ADR at CA Grill or Cinderella's castle where you gave them a credit card guarantee. I think they would charge you for the 5th person ($10, I think) as a no-show, but I'm not certain about that.... anyone know?

For a credit card guarantee, like for Akershus or California Grill, they charge if the whole party doesn't show up.

For Cinderella's, or a dinner show, you've paid in full when you made the ADR and would need to cancel for the person who isn't going to be there.

Last year, my husband got sick just before our trip. I went with the kids anyway and no one batted an eye when I said that we had three instead of four for any of our ADRs. We did rearrange a little to use his meal credits - we went to Hoop de Do, the Luau and the character breakfast at Ohana's and used his counter service credits to get enough breakfast to feed all three of us every day that we were there.

Thanks for the replies. I really appreciate the info everyone provided. Fortunately, we don't have reservations at any restaurants/shows that require a credit card guarantee. I'll just keep all of the reservations as they are.

Just confirming you'll be fine - we had a party of 7 for an ADR this past March and one person was unable to show. We were seated at a table for 6. Enjoy your dining!
