Ressie for VWL at 7 month mark

Hi all! First I want to say thanks to all the good info that's posted by everyone on the DVC boards, it's make my life easier figuring out the intricacies of DVC.



Question: SSR is our Home, and we're planning on booking Dec. 16-21, 2007 there at 11-months, but we'd like to make a reservation for the VWL at the 7-month point for the same dates. Does anyone have any insight on how hard/easy this will be? As always, thanks!

For the VWL, the time between Thanksgiving and New Year's Day is very difficult to reserve at the 7 month mark. It's not impossible, but if you are determined to be one of the lucky ones, you'll have to call separately for each day and be willing to use/risk using the waitlist.

Soplan to call day by day as soon as MS opens (currently 9 am Eastern). If you can't get a particular day on that first call, then use the waitlist for that day. If you do that, your chances are pretty good, but as always, there is no guarantee.

I will and thanks for the insight. At a minimum, we'll have the ressie at SSR and hopefully get the days at VWL that we want.... what makes my situation different is that I live in the Tampa area, so I can adjust my dates based on availability pretty easy. If I had to deal with airfare, it would be a totally different story. Who knows, this might be the reason I need to purchase a small VWL contract.... I called my guide yesterday and they had a few small ones available with the same UY.....

If you plan on staying at VWL during the holiday season on a fairly regular basis, I'd say this is a good idea. Good luck on your reservation for next year!

I agree with Granny - I think this is a good idea, too.

In fact, one of the reasons it is getting harder to book at the 7 month window is that many members are buying small contracts to get the home resort advantage for specific times of the year. They tend to use the smaller contracts at the 11 month window and seldom switch around at the 7 month window.

Got a studio @ WLV last year for that week between 6 and 7 months. It is just beautiful there that time of year. good luck.
