Resorts with more "Action"?

Lots of interesting advice and experience in the thread on BWV vs. OKW villas. I appreciate all the knowledge eveyone has been inputting.
We hope for a stay at WDW in January using our points for the first time and have been interested in what people are saying in regards to location of resorts. Something I hadn't even considered. Is there a resort (DVC or the others (Carrib, P. Orleans, etc) that you would recommend for more options close by? (easier to reach, entertainment, restaurants etc.) From what I've gleaned from the other thread on BW & OKW, sounds like BW is a 'better' place to stay if one wants "action" closer by as opposed to OKW which has been called more laid back.
Your opinions will help give us a more informed choice!

BWV and BCV are the DVC resorts in/near the action in terms of foot access- Boardwalk/Epcot/Swan/Dolphin all within walking distance

If you have a car and love DTD then OKW is a great choice

Well, BWV definitly has the reputation of being the swinging, action packed, noisy, in the middle of everything resort out of all the resorts at WDW. It is the action packed "Queen Resort of Crescent Lake", there is even rumor that the unused Attic is being outfitted with a casino to further enhance the AC theming! But alas, this will only be open to guests paying the big bucks/pts at the GVs! LOL!
In reality, BWV is without a doubt one of the best located resorts to parks, restaurants, shopping, nighttime entertainment, etc. So if this is what action means then yes BWV is close to action. Are the villas noisy and hectic? Not at all, especially if you have a standard view, you do not hear a thing and even with a boardwalk view it is not noisy or loud.
