resorts that expire in 2042?

If I have AKV as my home resort and my contract doesn't expire until 2057, does that mean that we will no longer be able to reserve rooms at the resorts with contracts that expire in 2042? Will we be limited to SSR or AKV for the last 15 years of our contract or do you think they are always going to be adding new resorts with longer contracts that we can choose from? Thanks

If they keep building, new DVC resorts will have extended contract dates. Also, when it comes time, I think owners of the older resorts will have an option to extend their contracts, so the older DVC resorts will still be available.

I think it is in DVC's best interest to keep adding new resorts, particularly since they want to keep attracting new buyers. If the rumors have any truth to them then new resorts at the existing Contemporary location and at Disneyland are already in the works ;) Without new resorts to attract new buyers, and give existing DVCers reasons to do add-ons, it would be hard for them to keep the allure of DVC going (without resorting to costly perks)

At the very least I can see them offering to extend existing contracts and doing major overhauls to existing resorts to keep them maintained and attractive.

I would personally like to see some West Coast resorts built just to give everyone more variety.

By 2042, most of the expiring resorts will likely need some pretty major renovation to keep up with changing technologies and communication standards. There are several possiblities. They could be shut down, then re-habbed and re-opened and re-sold...brining them back into DVC.

They could be demolished, rebuilt, and resold - or -be rebuilt as a completely new Disney resort.

They could be re-habbed and become Disney Family Suites if the market moves in that direction.

They could be sold off to an offsite company, if Disney no longer want to be in the hotel business (very unlikely, but possible.)

Nobody really knows what Disney will do with the 2042 resorts, we can only speculate. The resorts will be so old at that point and with no current owners paying dues to maintain them I believe they will cease to be DVC resorts at that time.

Given how successful DVC has been, I expect we'll be seeing additional resorts being added with expiration dates of 2057 or later. So while BCV, VWL, etc. would no longer be available, perhaps CRV and others will be. There are no guarantees, but I think it's very likely.

I have received more confirmation that would lend truth to my speculations on that post. Has anybody else heard this stuff? I had a dream last night that...................... Hmmmmm - can't rmember enough details now. It'll come to me.
