Are there resorts outside of Disney World??????????????? Just kidding! There are many, with good rates. We stayed at the Marriott once, before we stayed onsite and haven't since. I'm sure someone else will be able to give you good info.

The Grosvenor is just across the street from Downtown, but I'd stay away unless your standards are kind of low...we stayed over 3 years ago and found it rather dumpy and dirty....I was looking for a place to stay near Disney last week and on Travelocity they have hotel ratings and reviews....this place was rated VERY low and repeatedly the report was it's old old old and needs refurbished....

There are other hotels on that row just a bit farther down....that's as familiar as I am with that area.....Travelocity has reviews on some of the other hotels in that area too....

As you know WDW is a big place with different atractions in different places. North is the MK, west is AK, south is the wide world of sports,east DTD, and central MGM and Epcot. Spread throughout are onsite hotels and ringing the outside are the offsites. What you may not know is there are a lot of unmarked (on Disney Maps anyway) roads that lead offsite. For example, by the AK lodge there is a road that will take you offsite in about 6 blocks and sitting at this intersection is a Days INN and Ramada. By DTD is a host of hotels just 2 blocks farther than the official ones. Across the highway literally a stones throw from the new pop century resort is the HIFS, Gaylord Palms and Marriot. By the back road that takes you past the Fort wilderness campground and food storage facilities is the HYATT Grand Cypress and many of the vacation home rentals. As you can see all of the offsites are close to something, some are closer to things than onsites. For example the gaylord palms is closer to Epcot than the AK lodge, or the All Stars resort, but they are closer to AK and Blizzard beach. I suggest you look at a map of the area then decide what is most important to you and stay close to that. For instance if you have small children who will want to go to the MK most of your days stay at an offsite on the north edge of the park......but really some offsites are only a few minutes drive more each day if you stay at the right ones. Ask the front desk person for the quickest way in and they will tell you ......your gonna have fun........TAZ
