I'm planning a trip. What resorts do you favor as a couple and why?

First, the kitty photo and caption made me laugh out loud Thank you!

Since the kids moved out and we started going as a couple, DH and I like the Epcot resorts (BW & BC). The pools are great, there are lots of wonderful restaurants nearby (TS, CS and snacks), we can rent boats or a tandem bike, sit on the beach, and catch the performers at night on the Boardwalk. We're within walking distance to two parks and we can take the boat back when we'd rather not walk. Best of all, there are porches, sunrooms and outdoor areas where we can relax, read, and watch the world go by.

We love the Coronado Springs Resort (we will be staying there for the 7th time this September for our 25th wedding anniversary). Because it is a convention hotel, it tends to not have as many little kids. I think people are afraid that the conventioneers overtake the resort, which they don't--they are in meetings most of the day which leaves the pools manageable, etc. The Pepper Market can be a little crowded at peak hours for meals, but we go off hours or we are at the parks dining. It is a very romantic walk around the Lake at night and my husband and I do this every night...even after a day of walkign around the parks all day.

You got it! :thumbsup2 Thanks for responding...Your trips sound wonderful. I'll take your recommendation into consideration.

I've also thought about CSR. We even had lunch at the Pepper Market and saw the resort. It's the only moderate we haven't stayed at. Unfortunately, it's all booked up. Maybe one day....

Thanks for your responses. :goodvibes

I would agree with the Epcot resorts although storm-a-long bay tends to have a lot of children. I would also suggest Port Orleans French Quarter. It is nice a quiet. My wife's favorite resort is the Beach Club. She loves staying there especially during the Food and Wine festival.

Next month is the 5th trip for DH & I alone. We've stayed at Beach Club, Grand Floridian, Wilderness Lodge & Boardwalk.

I personnally prefer Boardwalk. Our trips focus around Epcot so this is very convenient. There are not the qty of small children that you see at the Beach Club.

Grand Floridian is very Nice and Romantic, but the transportation was a pain sometimes. We were always the last stop on the bus route, so it was already filled. I got a special rate the time we stayed there. I do not think it is worth the extra $$$ for us to stay there instead of Beach Club or Boardwalk. The Epcot resorts are cheaper and much more convenient.

Wilderness Lodge was nice also. Very quiet and relaxing. We got upgraded to concierge, and it is awesome to look down on the lobby from the top floor.

DH wants to stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge at a future trip. Talk about away from the hubub and noise............ During our visits for dinners here, I don't even feel like i'm at WDW.

I'm about to find out...

DH and I are taking our first sans DS trip and we've booked POFQ based on many recommendations from fellow DISers. We've never stayed at a mod and I'm curious to see how it differs from the others. We (ok I) also wanted something quaint and romantic. We'll see how it works out.

When we go we prefer the Epcot resorts BW and BC. Followed by the PO & FQ. We are a bit bias though as we love spending most of our time in Epcot so with the choices of restaurants and close to 2 parks. Epcot and HS with in walking distance or Boat from those.

I went in Nov 2007 with 4 GF's and we stayed at POR. I  it!!! It was quiet, very few kids running around, unlike the AS hotels and was absolutely beautiful!

I enjoyed it so much, I booked it Sept 2008 for DH & my 25th Anniversary trip! I can't wait!!!!

Old Key West in a one bedroom unit. The balcony and the huge jacuzzi in the bathroom make it perfect for a couple. Don't forget the champagne and candles.

bcv or bwv in Oct or early nov - during the food/wine festavial.

the studio (which I am assuming) here has 1 queen bed and a double sleeper sofa. the sofa make it nice to relax and watch tv or just to talk.

the 1-bedroom is much bigger (but so is the cost)

you can walk back from Epcot - after you have eaten and drunk yourself around WS.

that is a BIG selling point to me.

I would personally choose the GF. There is no other hotel on property that engulfs you in the romance and beauty. My DW and I stayed there on our honeymoon in August, and from now on, we will always make sure we stay there for a little while on each trip. The spa, Victoria's and Alberts, listening to the orchestra, the beautiful beach at sunset. Can't be beat.
