What is your experience with Port Orleans Resort Riverside? It seems like one of the few moderate places that have rooms for 5. How early do you have to book to get a room for 5? I am trying to figure out a first trip to WDW, planning for next summer, probably late August. Thanks!

CBR, also a Moderate, has rooms with a Murphy Bed that sleep 5.

Booking 6 months out, or when they announce discounts, should not be a problem.

I stayed there with my mom and liked it. Boatwright's is a good TS place that often has same-day availability and Yehaa Bob sounds like a hoot for an evening. The boat to Disney Springs is great! The grounds are lovely.

My family of 5 are hoping to stay there next summer. I won't book until there is a RO discount for our dates, though. That's how I've always done it (only 3 trips and various resorts) and it's been successful.

Yehaa Bob sounds like a hoot for an evening. The boat to Disney Springs is great! The grounds are lovely.

I echo all of this! Stayed at POR 3x and love it. I am happy to try CBR for next trip because it now has Murphy beds also , but our boys are already sad they won't be going to POR bc they like it so much. It's a very relaxing, pretty resort.

I'd go for a villa if you can

Myself, a friend, and my parents went on a trip when I was in high school and it was glorious. We had some room to spread out and not just in one room.

At Disney, a room isn't just a room 'to sleep in.'

It's utilized for midday breaks and to just relax and explore the resort.

A villa would be lovely but 1-2 BRs are quite a bit more expensive than a moderate, even with RO discounts or renting points. I've looked at this option frequently because we'd love the room. OKW is the best value out of the choices. I've also looked at the cabins.

For budget, transportation, amenities, and dining options POR is a solid choice.

I LOVED POR! And I am very picky. We stayed at CBR and loved the theme, pool and lobby; but buses were not great. If you go with that resort; then definitely request as close to lobby as possible.

We usually stay at deluxe resorts but have stayed at POR and love it. The rooms in the Alligator Bayou section sleep five, so you shouldn't have any trouble getting a room in late August.

POR is awesome! The only downside would be the size....it's massive and somewhat spread out. It was quite the walk for meals. That being said, I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.

what about the cabins? This is what I am trying to decide for next week. My options for 4 (but need room for 5 as kids are 14 (boy) 16 (girl) and they dont want to share a bed. The only other option showing up for me is contemporary and wilderness lodge villa that are in my price range. Last week a yacht club came up. I put in cart and was going to come back and book and it was gone:-(((Dont wait if you see what you want. My issue is we only decided we were doing this a couple weeks ago.....lol

We have stayed at POR because it was the most reasonable place to stay with five. No complaints, actually really enjoyed it and would definately stay there again and recommend. Murphy bed is quite small in length though. I'm 5'8 and feet hung over edge when I tested it out.

The murphy won't work for your family if your DD is the smallest. The bed is the size of a long toddler bed. It's only about 31" wide (a twin is 38-39") and it is only 5' 5" long so she is already 3 inches taller. I can't imagine how uncomfortable it would be.

Now if you are set on moderate hotels you can book POR or CBR capacity wise then bring a twin blowup mattress. That would be more comfortable.

You also have the option of the FW Cabins, ASMu Suite, AoA Suite or 2 Value rooms before jumping up to the next price range.

When you calculate your costs, if your youngest is 19 that means you have 3 extra adults which adds $45 per night to your costs at POR and CBR. With 2 values only one room would have an extra $10 per night and with the Cabins & Suites there is no extra adult charge. This might bring the daily rates closer together.

I'm 5'3" and I did not fit in that murphy bed comfortably. That being said, I love POR, and for my family, it isn't a necessity to have a room with the capacity for 5 people. I'd definitely recommend renting DVC or booking a suite somewhere though.

Yes, with the age range in your group you are paying a fee for each additional adult after the first two. I agree that the 75 per night adds up when you consider that fee in with your daily fee.

I would think about two values, or the Cabins. I will say that I am not drawn to them, but my friend just returned and was totally enchanted. She said there was plenty of space, and transportaion was excellent.

If you are offered FD, and you can all manage that blow up bed thing, I would probably go for the moderate, and know that all of you will eed to be considerate of each other. It will be tight, but you can do it. We travel as a large group, and while we use the resort itself throughout the trip, we are not fussy about the room itself. We generally have two Deluxe rooms, and even without planning we manage somehow manage to avoid feeling cramped or rushed to get ready to head out. But we all are on different schedules at home, so that may make a difference to you. That one bathroom can be a problem if you have the same routine at home.

The problem with the Cabins is that the bunk beds sleep shorter than their 66" length, due to the head and foot board. If people always sleep curled up, the shorter beds might be fine but that's not an option I'd choose. Here is a review that may help.

With 5 adults, 2 rooms at a value will be SO much more comfortable for everyone.
