Resorts as a Predictor?

So touring plans crowd calendar says that crowd levels during the week we are in DW will be at levels 4-6. So not too busy. But if all DW properties (including the villas) except 4 hotels are completely booked, wouldn’t that predict that crowds will mostly be very high?

Not really. Filling the parks takes A LOT more people coming to WDW than just those staying at the resorts. Locals, off-site’ers, etc. So yes, resort guests certainly play a role, but resort occupancy is just one of many park crowd drivers.

I noticed this myself and meant to ask. I have a room booked for the Wine Dine marathon but I keep checking back to see what prices are as the date nears.

I thought it was a website glitch when there were only a few resorts with rooms left. I checked back later expecting to see things opened up... yet still such limited availability.

I couldn’t believe all the rooms were taken, but then started to worry about how busy things where going to be.

They could be holding rooms too. I'm going in December and for awhile there was very limited availability. then they announced all these deals and everything opened up.....:confused3

Good to know that Resort occupancy does not predict crowd levels. So hopefully the crowd calendar I’m using will be accurate. 🤞

Please don’t put faith in crowd calendars. Even if it was still possible for them to be anywhere near accurate, Disney has and will lower staffing to make you wait just as long on an alleged 1 day as on a 6.

The best thing to do imo is assume the worst and have plans, with contingencies. My TP subscription is for the room fax service and Lines app.
