Resort xmas ornaments?

We stayed at BCV for the first time in October, and as of now my streak of giving DW a resort disc ornament for everywhere we stay is broken. I checked the BC marketplace, the DTD xmas store, and the MK xmas store - nobody had any resort ornaments. I asked a CM at the DTD store and she said she thought they weren't doing them any more.

Has anyone seen the resort disc ornaments (they were always dated with the year too) anywhere now that Halloween is over and the xmas season has kicked up?

Thanks

I loved getting those ornaments too!!! I am so sad that they no longer have them nor have I been able to find out the reason why.:confused3 It's kinda like the resort mugs that are no longer distinguishable from resort to resort. Has Disney lost their creativeness? I think that the individuality of these items were REASONS to buy. Who wants to be just like everyone else????

:sad2: I know exactly how you feel. I swear I bought the very last AK ornament in all of WDW last year. My MIL collects the resort ornaments and I let her have mine becasue I do not "collect" them. We will be there 11/30-12/10...I am already looking for a special pin for a patient in our clinic and will also see if I can find your ornament. If I do I will try to send you a PM. MIL and I hope to tour those resorts this trip and I will definitley be in all the shops. Maybe I can help Santa out!! I am assuming you are talking about the cream colored circular or oval more formal looking ornament with the resort on the front or is there another one you can describe??

That is disappointing to hear. I have been collecting these ornaments from the resorts we stay in. I only have 3 and was planning to pick them up each time we stay at a new resort. We were at BCV week before last and didn't see any of the ornaments there. I don't understand the marketing done at Disney. They must know that if they make DVC merchandise we will buy it!!

DW and I also love those ornaments, we always would purchase for each resort we stayed at. We noticed bout 2 years ago they were getting harder and harder to find. Very sad to see them go...Shawnpirate:

I usually buy the Wilderness Lodge resort Xmas pin which doubles as an ornament. Are you telling me that those won't be available either? Tsk tsk...

We're at HHI and I looked, unsuccessfully, in the Mercantile yesterday. That is so disappointing to hear they haven't been seen anywhere. The other thing I miss is the WDW wall calendars. For several years now, I've gotten a WDW wall calendar, sometimes they're available as early as September. One year I waited til December, but they were sold out then. Very popular. This year I asked when we were there in early October-Nada! Between those and the very popular disc ornaments-what's Disney thinking?

Rest assured that if Disney was selling enough of the resort ornaments they'd still be available. I think it is probably an efficiency move (like dumbing down the menus). It's less expensive for Disney to buy 10,000 of one kind of ornament rather than 1,000 each of 10 ornaments.

We bought the resort ornaments for several years (that included the year on them) which was a nice way of remembering which resort we stayed at during a particular year. We too were sorry to see them disappear.

My wife and I completed a Food and Wine stay at WDW a few weeks ago, and inquired about holiday pins at the Wilderness Lodge. I believe they said they'd have them mid-November.

Yep, those are the ones. And it sounds like that tradition is over. I had already broken the news to DW that they were gone, but was hoping I might be proven wrong and could surprise her.

They also had a "classic" ceramic disc ornament each year (they actually made them in a glass ball and had a ceramic decorative plate). Those have gone by the wayside this year too.

Woo hoo! I'll be able to check for them in 13 days! But who's counting?
