I am pleasantly surprised by the wide array of wildlife that people report seeing at and near the Disney resorts. I recall previous posts that mention lizards, snakes (I'll pass), armadillos, and alligators. I would love to see an armadillo and an alligator. My question is, are these animal sitings common? Where are the best places to safely and respectfully spot wildlife? I will be staying at the Poly for most of my WDW visit.

You're in luck! For about the best gator spotting in WDW, walk across the road to Shades of Green and follow the sidewalk up the hill. On your right you'll come to a pond that usually has gators--up to about half a dozen of the little demons! Depending on teh temp they'll be sunning themselves on teh grass or submerged in the water but you'll see those yellow eyes.

Stay on the sidewalk and they'll leave you alone and you'll be perfectly safe. Please don't feed them bread, turkey legs, or small children ;)

Wow, thanks Ducklite for the gator scoop! I will definitely check out the pathway that you describe.

The best place to safely and respectfully spot wildlife - why the AKL of course! :rotfl2:
Sorry , couldn't resist. :earboy2:
