Over Thanksgiving week we are making plans with family who are staying on property at different Disney resorts.

My Family of four - Riviera
FIL/MIL - Swan
Aunt/Uncle - An All- Star

Are these planned resort visits allowed:

1. Tuesday: My family of 4 and FIL/MIL are leaving MK midday via boat to meet our Aunt and Uncle for lunch at Geyser Point. They will drive or Uber to WL from their resort. Will WL let them in without a ressie to go to GP?

2. After 1 we planned to check out holiday decorations at WL and then at Contemporary, Poly and GF. Can the aunt and uncle drive to contemporary and leave car there while riding the monorail with us to others? Will contemporary or any monorail resort let them park there while resort hopping? Or do they have to park elsewhere at TTC? Or could they leave car at WL?

3. Wednesday we hoped to have MIL/FIL and Aunt/Uncle to our one bedroom at the Riviera and then sit by the pool with them to visit while the kids swim. Can they do this as our guests? Can the Aunt/Uncle park at Riviera? My Inlaws may drive too or take skyliner.

That’s it - thanks for the insight!

1. I don’t know. When we went in May, my in-laws came to pick us up at AKL and they had a hard time getting in to pick us up because they didn’t have a dining reservation.

2. Unless they are staying at Contemporary or any other monorail resort (or have a reservation there), they likely won’t be able to park there. I don’t know how long your lunch will run but I think resort parking may have a time limit for dining. I’m not entirely sure, though (we do not drive to resort dining); I’m sure someone else here will know. Given your plans for later, could they park at TTC and then meet you at Geyser Point?

3. I don’t know if they will be allowed to just park at Riviera if they are not staying there or do not have a dining reservation. You may need to let the front desk and guard at the gate know. The pool can only be accessed if you are staying at Riviera; we had to use our MagicBands to open it when we stayed there.

1. Your mileage may vary here. I believe most of the restrictions have been lifted but the MK resorts can be hard to park at without an ADR or resort reservation.

2. I'd pay to valet park at Contemporary in this example.

3. They can probably park to visit you, but the pool is a no go.

1)&2) Honestly - I'd just have them park at TTC and WALK to Poly. Take monorail to MK entrance - and you all take boat to WL. They could try valet parking at any of the resorts and then going back to that one when you are done with lunch and resort hopping, but that might be more hassle than it's worth. And because they are a resort guest at All Stars - that parking is free at TTC.

3) Pool access is restricted to resort guests based on the fact that your MB opens the pool gates. I don't know the Rivera pool set up - but at many of the resorts - there are tables right outside the pool area where I've frequently seen families hanging out together. I don't know the age and swimming abilities of your kids to know if its appropriate to not have an adult actively supervising them within the pool area.

Since it is a holiday week & likely to be busy, I would suggest aunt & uncle just take Disney bus to MK & meet you outside the gates. Then as suggested, you all just take bus or boat to WL. After you finish checking out the monorail resorts, they just take monorail back to MK & bus back to All Stars.

You are allowed to have guests visit you in your villa. They would notify the guard they are visiting the XX family in room xxx & should be fine parking. But again, it will be a busy week. If they can take Disney transportation, they’ll probably be better off. Aunt & Uncle could park at Disney Studios, then take skyliner to Riviera for example. In laws take skyliner as planned. They could even boat to Studios & meet up with aunt & uncle then take skyliner together.

As for the pool, yes it is for resort guests only. But Riviera does not have a CM checking each guest on entry like Y & B do. If they enter with you, are not swimming but will just sit with you poolside, you should be fine. If you’re not at capacity for your room, you can always go to the front desk & add them to your room as day guests.

In all those instances, I would plan on using Disney transportation so that there isn't the chance of being turned away from resort parking. Or have them park at the TTC, then go to MK and then on to other resorts.

1.) Bus from All-Stars to MK, then boat to WL.
2.) Boat back to MK then monorail around.
3.) Bus/drive to HS then Skyliner over to Riviera.

Thanksgiving I would expect to not be allowed to arrive by personal car to any resort you do not have an ADR to, especially near any parks. Either UBER or use Disney Transportation, fast way to ruin a day is be turned away and have to start over.

You can check with your hotel to see what they will allow for your visit day including if they are allowed inside pool area.

Thanks everyone for the input! Much appreciated. We don’t want to make things hard on the older generation so will look to the easiest options here.
