Resort Unavailable Unless Adding A Day?

I’m trying to change up our resort last minute (we arrive in two weeks) and I check multiple times per day to see what’s available. If I add a single day prior to our check in (so, arrive Saturday rather than Sunday, adding a day) the resorts I prefer miraculously pop up. Take that day away? Gone. Is it worth calling and speaking to someone to try and book it? (I’ve called three times this morning but they seem to be having phone issues and I get disconnected). Thanks!

Disney uses an algorithm for bookings. Supposedly they started years ago to prevent rooms being left open for a single night. Now it seems like they’re using it to push certain lengths of stay & when check ins happen. We know they still have staffing issues with housekeeping. So personally, I think they’re using it now to control how many check ins & check outs they have per day. So housekeeping can keep up with room turn overs.

I have booked overlapping nights twice this year in order to take advantage of discounts. Both times I called CRO to drop the night. The regular CMs can’t do it, but contacted guest services to do it. Usually CRO can only see what you see for booking. You could try calling & see if the Cm is able to book just the nights you need. Or if they’ll call & get guest services to do it. If you’re brave, you could book what you see, then call & ask to drop the night you don’t need. Good luck!

Thanks for everyone’s replies! I tried to call and ask very nicely about the changes and they wouldn’t budge. Either I add the day prior or I have to keep my current reservation. I considered adding the day and then trying to cancel it but I’m too anxious that I’ll get stuck with the bill lol.

Book it and then call and tell them you want to drop a night. Worst that happens is they say no so you cancel it.
