We are thinking on going for a few days May, 2013 to Disney. Dont know much about the resorts only stayed there once which was at the Dolphin.
We will have 4 adults and 2 grandchildren (2 and 4). Any suggestions on where to stay and room vs a suite? Or is renting a DVC a better route to go? Is it worth it to stay at a mod vs a value? May visit several parks but the main one will be Disney itself. Would like to choose less walking save the knees for the parks. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks

I think grandma and grandpa may like a mod better but at those kids ages, the kids may like a value better. My kids loved the value at those ages. The pools were perfect and the food courts are good. Transportation was better at Sports and Pop than at POR.

However POr and csr have beautiful grounds, beautiful pools, loved PoRs food court.

Location to a park really only comes in play when you consider deluxe for me.

Also, personally it depends when you go if I would consider dvc. For us, we go when there is free dining so we don't consider dvc.

Well, a lot depends on your budget.

The first thought that came to my mind was WL, if you are getting a couple rooms and want to be near MK. WL is a lower priced deluxe, and the rooms only hold four, but the resort itself is fabulous. It also has boat transportation that drops you off right in front of the main entrance to MK, so the walking is as short as you can get when arriving at the park.

The second thought that came to mind was a FW cabin. The bedroom has a double bed and bunks and the living room has a full size Murphy, so there are separate sleeping areas, but room for everyone.

A suite at one of the values would also be a good choice.

You would need a two bedroom villa in a DVC if you want one villa, or two studios, two one bedrooms, or a 1BR/Studio combo (which is basically a two bedroom villa).

I would figure out the budget first, and then see what works for you.

I agree! WL and Values are choices at each end of the budget spectrum and either one would be great. Unless you plan on using the kitchen facilities provided by a suite, connecting rooms are a much better value. there's no guarantee, but we've been given a connecting room every time but one, and since you have plenty of adults going, it won't make a huge difference anyway.
The one red-flag I need to mention though are the huge south american teen age tour groups that frequent the values. Be sure and read past threads on the dates these groups will descend :scared: and stay away! no amount of cost savings will make up for their presence.
