I am looking for a reasonably priced resort that has suites. I have twin 2 year olds and we are planning our trip for January for their birthday. My husband and I always like having the separate room to put them to bed at their 8:00 bedtime but we can stay up and watch TV or talk. What are some suggestions please. Also, because they are so young...what we want a resort that is convenient. This is our first big family vacation and a first to Disney World for all of us! What other recommendations can you make

The most affordable suites on property are the Art of Animation Family Suites, and the All-Star Music Family Suites.

You could also consider finding a 1 bedroom DVC unit via DVC points rental.

It really depends what you call "reasonably priced," though. Even via DVC rental, you will look at $400+/night for a 1BR unit.

Your best bet is requesting 2 connecting rooms at any resort. There is a chance you will not be granted the connecting rooms but they will usually move you if possible if they don't assign them the first night.

I'm struggling with something very similar. We are going in 50 days  and I still haven't decided on where we are staying :confused3, I have like three different resorts booked. It will be DH and I, our oldest who will be 5, and twins who will be 2. I cannot decide whether we prefer the benefit of club level with snacks for the kids, breakfast, etc. especially since we will only be doing half days so there will be resort time. If we do a one bedroom villa we will have the space and a washer/dryer but no club level amenities.

We looked at AoA but honestly prefer something we can either walk or monorail to one of more parks from, so we're down to Poly, GF, Beach, and Yacht. We are debating AKL 1 bedroom as well because we think the girls will like the animals. There are so many choice, it's crazy! Anyway, from the extensive research I have done and hours of my life spent mulling resorts, AoA is great if you are good with buses everywhere (or plan on driving yourself), I think the beach club villas would be next (and they are currently being refurbished). BC also has some one bedroom suites. Beach club is good because you can walk/boat to both Epcot and HS and it has Stormalong Bay. On the same note, I have heard it's hard to keep track of kids there because it's so big and that makes me hesitant to go with my twins, since we are outnumbered afterall. If you can swing it, Poly and Grand Floridian both have suites and monorail to MK. There is also Baylake Tower and Grand Floridian Villas to consider but availability is slim.

Be aware that if it is seen you have more than one resort booked, the opportunity is there for Disney to cancel all of your reservations. It happened a little over a month ago to another poster. The odds are they probably won't notice, but I wouldn't hang on to 3 bookings for very long. :scared:

By the way, I agree that the pool at the Beach Club is not great for little kids. It is massive, and you cannot see the whole pool area from any one spot. And in order to get on the big slide you need to walk away from the pool area and cross a public sidewalk. I think the Poly pool would be much better. Especially now with the new splash pool.

Ok thanks! I didn't even know I could do it until a CM told me over the phone about it being able to. I'm trying to nail it down today anyway so they should be gone soon

This is what I'm worried about! I have one room booked at CBR for 7/30 - 8/7 for our family of 4, then another one booked for 7/31 - 8/7. I want to ask for connecting rooms but can't see where to do that online. I realize they are not guaranteed but I am going to ask and hope! I paid my deposit on both rooms I really hope they don't get cancelled. One is a package, the other a room only. Any advice for me? Thx!

Edit: since they are at the same resort I might be okay? One complication: I have one a preferred room and the other standard! I couldn't change them because the categories are sold out. Ugh! I anticipate a lot of time upon arrival sorting this out with the CM.

We are a family of three and we also like a separate bedroom space. We've done suites with CL, connecting rooms and 1- and 2-bedroom villas. Our preference is the villas. Though you get CL with a suite, with the money I save with a villa I can stock the fridge with foods and beverages we actually like (I'm not a big fan of club level offerings) or even order room service. I love getting a full coffee maker and LOVE the washer/dryer. We've always lucked out with connecting rooms, but I wouldn't count on it. We've also stayed at AoA in a suite and it was incredibly uncomfortable.

If you are looking for space and convenience, I would look for a 1-bedroom villa at BLT, BCV or BWV. We've never rented points and have been lucky to get BCV and BWV with discounts. The BCV pool would be best for two year olds. I would just suggest staying in the kiddie pool area.

We also try to stay in a place with separate rooms and have done Wilderness Lodge Villas, Boardwalk Villas and Art of Animation. The Art of Animation was super cute and my daughter LOVED it (huge Cars fan which is the section we stayed in) but we may have spoiled ourselves with park proximity on our first two trips so that while the buses weren't terrible, we did notice the significant difference of being farther away with less transportation options. We actually ended up in a cab a few times because of this. We really loved both VWL and BWV but they were definitely more expensive vacations and as a result we stayed fewer nights. In the end I'd do AoA again because it would mean a longer stay for us and just factor in a few cab rides when speed and/or convenience are hugely important and you'd still end up ahead money-wise.

Another option is the cabins at Fort Wilderness. They have a bedroom, a full kitchen and a nice living room with either a murphy bed (or a sofa bed on the refurb units). The proximity to MK is really great, the boat is always fun to take.

Disney threatens to cancel your rooms if you have the same lead guest on two or more rooms. (Same dates or overlapping dates.)

You really should call in and get this sorted out - I.e. If you want two connecting rooms (or two rooms regardless, for your family), don't leave it as two rooms, different categories, same lead guest. it's just a headache in the making for your check in.

You are going at a busy time and, even if they don't cancel your reservations, you run a risk of one parent per room, different buildings. FYI They never guarantee connecting rooms, even if you booked same category.

There is a good chance there is no "sorting this out". If the resort is booked out how are you going to get 2 of the same type of room when the system says every room is booked? CMs just can't make that happen. What you could do is keep checking back each day to see if availability opens. You could also pick an alternative and then keep checking to see if your first resort opens and switch back if you get 2 rooms in the same category. I know us Disney lovers are all about the pixie dust :) but this literally seems not possible so I'm just encouraging you to find an alternative if having the chance at connecting rooms is at all important to you. Good luck in your searching!

Your odds of connecting, or even adjoining, are terrible with a standard and a preferred.

Agreed. Those room types are not going to even be in the same building.

OP, if you can, switch resorts to one where you can get the same type of room. Otherwise requesting connecting is a huge waste of time. Preferred and Standard rooms can't connect. It is impossible. The only other solution I see is waiting until check in and hoping they can downgrade one room or pay to let you upgrade one. And then banking on spending a lot of time at check in while they try to shuffle things around. But what will you do if they can't fix it at check in? That you really need to think about because the odds are not in your favor of them being able to work things out for you.

Best if you can fix it ahead of time.
