Disney is putting computers in resort rooms on a trial basis. Anyone use one of the new computers? What are your thoughts? :surfweb:

I think that's great! I finally took my laptop on our last vacation, because I couldn't get away from the disboards for a whole week :surfweb: and because I wanted to search for information while we were there about what we wanted to do the next day, etc.

I don't however, want the job of fixing the computers after people screw them up! I'm happy to take my own if needed, and probably will on our next trip even if there are computers in the room.

If I knew that I would have one in my suite, I would gladly leave my laptop at home, but I really want/need net access for our upcoming trip. Maggie

It's a great idea. But, me I would bring my own laptop. We did that last year and it worked like a charm. I didn't use their connection service, as we can use our cell phone as a broadband modem. Wouldn't leave home with out either and for this trip both are coming along.

We stayed at the Contemporary in February while they were testing out the in-room online concierge. We were pleased with it. We were told it would normally have the $9.95/day charge for using the web to go anywhere other than disney.com sites but it was free during our stay while we were testing it out. We were staying in the Atrium Club and another guest told us he was told by a Poly Concierge CM (they had changed resorts the day before) that Disney was considering adding free web access to the list of concierge "perks" once the computers were in all the resorts. No idea if that was true or not but I like the idea.

The online concierge program (which is for all guests, not just club level guests) had options like requesting luggage assistance, ordering your car from the valet, requesting more towels, ordering room service etc. all from the computer. The only thing I did online was luggage service for our check out but that worked well. Since we were staying club level everything else the concierge CMs took care of for us.
