Resort Reservation, but no park tix

Sorry if this is a duplicate question -- I scanned the forums and haven't seen this question yet, but I'm sure someone has asked it somewhere.

We have Boardwalk reservations for a long weekend in September, but NO PARK TIX yet, so of course, no way to reserve our park days. As I understand it, Disney MAY open up park tix sales for 2020 sometime in the future, but haven't said when yet. Assuming lots of DVC members are in the same boat, I'm a little surprised they haven't said where we'll fall in the pecking order, and surprised they wouldn't reopen ticket sales to families with confirmed DVC reservations before allowing AP holders and others to reserve park days. I'm nervouse that by the time they open things up, our park days will be at capacity.

While we love our resort days, we don't love them enough to fly to Florida just for our resort stay -- getting park tix is pretty important to us.

Has anyone found more guidance from Disney about how they will handle this? Thanks for any info you can provide!

I don’t think that they will open ticket sales up until they see how many people who already have tickets will be visiting. There are a lot of guests who are still getting the details of their rescheduled packages ironed out. Disney doesn’t know if those guests will visit or not.

Plus, there are a lot of date-based tickets that were sold and then had their expiration dates extended into September of next year. There’s no telling how many of those guests will stick to their original plans.

And on top of that, Disney cannot have ticket sales that exceed their park capacity. Which means that while they would love to continuously increase capacity from week to week, spikes in COVID cases in Florida or infection among CMs could result in lower capacity or even another closure. So until they feel confident that they can increase capacity, they may continue to freeze the sale of new tickets for a while.

Disney’s official answer to “when?” continues to be “later this summer”.

Talked to MS this morning. We have a guest that doesn't have tickets either (and a stay in 2.5 weeks). Asked if she thought we might still be able to get tickets she said hopefully soon and to watch your email. Take it for what it's worth.

There are a few current threads discussing this from the DVC standpoint. You are correct that there are a lot of people in the same situation (both DVC and cash reservations). While I am hopeful that Disney will eventually reopen 2020 ticket sales, I have zero confidence in them notifying us in advance. It could happen, but I wouldn't count on it. My recommendation is to monitor these threads. Once 2020 ticket sales reopen, someone will post in on here.

Good luck!!

Also - here is a great thread with just reopening news - minus the commentary :) . I'm sure it will be posted here as well.

I think finding a ticket on ebay or a tourism company etc is your best bet for July, Aug, Sept reservation folks. I certainly think for Oct/Nov/Dec resys that the park ticket situation will be handled by then.

I thought about that too as an option. What are the risks associated with that? I only need 1 ticket for my mom.

I think the risks are the the ticket ends up not being valid. I canceled a ticket that was linked to MDE for a friend. The refund is being processed by UT.

However, it still shows up in my account..I can reassign and even make park reservations with it. However, if someone went to the gate with it, it would not be valid..

Buyer would not even know until they got there.
