Did anyone go to WDW for the Marathon this year? We're going next year from Jan. 8-12 and I'd love to get an idea of what resort rates will be. I called WDW and was quoted over $600 per night for a tower room at CR. Is this really what the rate will be or will it be lower when the rates officially come out for 2009?

January is a "primarily" slow month at WDW however it does pick up a lot at the resorts during marathon time. I'm pretty sure you should see some rates under $600 a night at CR but don't wait too long to book something because some of the resorts will sell out.

Have some options open so if something comes available at a special rate the closer it gets you can cancel and rebook. But, you may want to book in the next few months at whatever rate is available at the time because there may not be too much to choose from down the road.

The code rates are usually released 2-3 months ahead of the time you're looking to book.

Thank you! I've contacted a TA and she quoted me something more reasonable, so I'm going to book now. I can always cancel it if something better comes along. At least I won't have to worry about getting the resort that I want. Now I just have to worry about attempting to run a marathon. :rotfl:

When you booked the Marathon room with your travel agent did you book a room only or a package? Marathon Packages are available for the Marathon travel period with MYW tickets as well. Marathon packages are the only Pakages already out for next year. You would still need to add dining later if you want but you are able to book a package with gtd rates.

Good Luck with the Run!
:yay: :cheer2: :cool1:

Thanks for the info. We booked room only since we have annual passes.
