Along with what the other replier said, DVC can also take available rooms back at 60 days or less and put them on the cash side. This is called breakage.Hi! Hopefully this makes sensewhy is their availability on the main Disney world page for resorts and certain rooms (specifically the summer deals page) but NOT any availability on the DVC site? Is there a work around there?
This may be a silly question but is there no way as a DVC member to say hey i need a room and there’s availability can i rent it? LolRooms show up on the Disney site for a few reasons. Some have been mentioned already in thst DVC/DVD owns they own points and those are the rooms they booked with those points as well as rooms still not booked 60 days or less from check in can be offered as thst is the breakage period.
The other reason is when owners trade their points for cruises and other options. Rooms are taken to rent for cash so DVC can pay for those trades
DVC owns at least 2% of the points of every DVC resort which they rent out for cash. They own more in resorts in active sales, right now they own a little under half of the points in both Riviera & VGF2 & all of VDH which they can rent out for cash. They also rent out for cash all of the points members have traded in for things like cruises. Then the POS allows them to rent ‘breakage’ for cash (unbooked by members at 60 days - they can ‘anticipate‘ what this number will be.)Hi! In addition to asking about availability for a points booking, you can ask about availability for cash with the DVC discount. It might not be as good as the summer deals or other public discounts, though. This may be a silly question but is there no way as a DVC member to say hey i need a room and there’s availability can i rent it? Think of it this way: another member has that room booked. Sure, that other member is the Walt Disney Company and they've re-listed it on their own site for rent, but they're still acting in the capacity of just another member. You can't really call and say, "hey, I know someone else has a room booked, but can you ask them to give it up for me?"This may be a silly question but is there no way as a DVC member to say hey i need a room and there’s availability can i rent it? Thanks for explaining! That’s not a bad idea if i can’t get the room i want!Think of it this way: another member has that room booked. You could book it with cash and then rent out your own points to cover some of the cost.
You can waitlist a room with a lot of inventory, like SSR or OKW. Those are the rooms that people will drop if they get something better. This may be a silly question but is there no way as a DVC member to say hey i need a room and there’s availability can i rent it? Lol
Thank goodness!!! Thank you!It seems like whatever was keeping inventory blocked for resorts in June has now been fixed and SSR seems to be back to normal. May still pretty sparse, but obviously, it was a glitch and not just rooms being taken out by DVC for other reasons..
One thing...at least we know they are not changing up how they do things!
You can for cash. This may be a silly question but is there no way as a DVC member to say hey i need a room and there’s availability can i rent it? Lol
You can call DVC and ask them if there is anything available that is not showing online.
The only rooms that are there for cash thst might be given back for a points booking are those that are indeed ones there that fall under breakage..which means we are within 60 days.
There have been times when owners have been successful. All you can do is try. The difficult part is that there is no way to know how those rooms being offered got there.
At least the majority of Members who post here aren't wasting them. Most of us agonize over losing just one or two.but the majority of members aren't wasting points.
