Hey! We have been DVC members since 2007. This is our first trip back to SSR in 6 years, our home resort. My husband and I feel like we walked into the twilight zone lol . I realize everything has changed over 5 years and due to covid .. etc.

I had a question about the entrance gate to our resort , where we have to scan our magic bands to get in while in our car . I noticed we no longer need a parking paper with our check in and check out date anymore for our window? Is this because of the magic band technology? Sorry if it’s a redundant question, but I was just curious how they know the cars parked in the lot are guests of the hotel and not “visiting”. Just curious lol .
Also , is it just me or has Disney Springs turned into a complete madhouse since 6 years ago . I honestly don’t even recognize it with the security checks and the crowds were unbelievable. Granted it’s a Sunday . Which most likely is the the reason why it was insanely crowded . I just wanted to get someone else’s take on this . :-) TIA!!!!

You will probably need your magic band to get past the front gate. If not you'll be able to tell them you're checking in that day if you misplace your band. But it makes everything quicker if you have it.

Disney Springs is zoo on the weekends and right before the dinner rush. Last time we went to Disney Springs it was the day they lifted the outdoor mask mandate and I never saw it so crowded in my life. Pandemic or not it was uncomfortable. Personally I would only go weekdays in the middle of the day and make sure to be gone by 4-5 pm.

Disney Springs is very busy on weekends. In order to enter SSR the first time you have to stop at the gate and check with the security guard and show ID. After that you can use your magic band at the other gate to open it.
