I would like to know about the DELUXE HOTELS I've stayed at a moderate and a value resort. We are usually at the parks all day and come to rest and then back at the parks. So I'm just wondering are there extra PERKS with the higher priced resorts and if so what are they? Or is it just a place to sleep at a much higher price.

Also is the Disney experience more special at the deluxe resorts?

Thanks! :goodvibes

A lot depends on which deluxe

Bigger rooms - always queen beds

Real closets and in most cases - not CR - more drawer space

Private balconies

Decor, furnishings and ambiance

Location - monorail resorts to MK and Epcot reosorts with ability to walk or boat to Epcot and DHS

AKL has the savannah experience which is unique

Indoor corridors to rooms

Room service avail

It really comes down to personal preference and needs/wants

OKW rooms are HUGE!!!!
I think the biggest on property?
Also, if you get a one bedroom at OKW it is a King bed with a huge bath, full size washer and dryer, and the balcony is AMAZING! It has a round table with four chairs, ceiling fan, and plenty of room.

Add the boat service to DTD and Olivia's restaurant and you are all set!

I do, however, want to one day stay Club Level somewhere.

Thanks! That helps! Good to know there really is a difference We'll check that out which deluxe is your favorite?

Well I don't have a lot of experience with other Deluxe's, but the huge whirlpool tub at OKW seals the deal for me. :thumbsup2

OKW is not a deluxe, but a deluxe DVC villa - that is a whole different category of resort.

Deluxes are BWI, BC, YC, WL, Poly, GF, CR, AKL

Villas are BCV, BWIV, OKW, WLV, AKLV, SS, ad BLT

The Villas at WL, BLT, BC, BW, WL, and AKL share facilities with the attached deluxe reort.

OKW and SS are free standing villa resorts

My favorites are BC/YC becuase of pool complex, amentities, and location

My family's favorites (I have a DD16 & DS12):

BCV (can't beat the atmostphere there and the walk to Epcot & HS)
AKV (awesome!)
BLT (can't beat that walk to MK)

Also thicker towels, nicer sheets, better shampoo/cond. lotions, etc.
S P A C E!!!

Sorry! didn't mean it to come across that way. Just clarifying for OP as the regular deluxe rooms don't have the jetted tubs, etc.

Have a great Christmas!!

resorts generally are closer to the action - not always but usually. If you have young ones and plan to spend a lot of time at the MK the the Poly, GF or CR are convenient. (We've done this and it is a great benefit for nap time.) If you're interested in the World Showcase then Yacht and Beach Clubs and to a lesser extent Boardwalk give you easy access.

In the past we have stayed at AKL, POP, and Port. RS, and loved them all. However AKL was alittle stuffy, and uptight for us. The decor and atmosphere was AMAZING, but it just didn't seem as kid friendly as the others. We would rather play hard and sleep in any bed as to pay for the frills. Don't get me wrong the frills are nice but not worth the trade off for us money wise. Although for this next vacation we rented DVC points and are staying at the Boardwalk Villas. Price wasn't to bad considering the time of year and I really wanted to stay there...;)

I've stayed at the Grand Floridian. It's very nice being on the monorail right to the Magic Kingdom (and a couple stops from Epcot). It's also great having the option of taking a boat over instead. My next trip is going to be at the Contemporary Resort for the same reason.

I will say this, if you have a favorite park, the convenience of staying close to that park will pay off in shorter transportation times. Getting to the parks eats up quite a bit of the day if you don't plan ahead. The more transportation options you have, the more you get out of your stay.

As for the accommodations, they were very nice, but also quite expensive for what you get. I think we paid something like $400 a night for a low-end room at the GF. But we loved every minute of it.

We don't stay at the parks all day...so this is another case of different strokes for different folks. I love the deluxes...location, amenities, private baclonies, inside hallways, etc. We have at least one or two 'no park' days each trip. We enjoy the 'Monorail Resort Tour'. Being able to see the various fireworks shows, the castle and the EWP - from some rooms and the beach - is also a plus.
