Resort Question...Is a Deluxe worth it???

The last time I stayed on site was 1976, and then it was the Contemporary.

But I'm planning to book next year's trip there.

I had all my homework done: we were going to stay at AS Music, in a family suite. I was all set to book it, just waiting (as I still am:confused3 ) for next year's rates to come out. But I kept coming back to: sounds wonderful, but boy, wouldn't it be convenient to stay at the Contemporary???

So I took out the calculator and did the math. With the AAA discount (which the suites won't take), it was a $300 difference for the week.

Join AAA, get the discount, and go to the Contemporary!!

Just one more person saying that for our family the resort makes our vacation. Staying in a deluxe on the monorail for our family is the only way to go. Our children (when they were young) considered the monorail the first ride in Disney.
The moderate resorts are very nice and the bus service is fine( we always had a car so we never used the buses when we stayed at a moderate resort.) We did love the food courts but we usually only used them for breakfast.
If we were only going to DW a few times we would have always stayed at the deluxe resorts but we were insane and went every summer for 16 years.

"Worth" is always a very subjective word so it's hard to say. For us most definitely, they have never disappointed us and it is always our first choice. There are some folks who think deluxes are not worth the money. Their stance is "Not a true 4 star resort", better treatment at the 4 season, I only sleep in the room yada, yada, yada.
Can't really answer for you but for us it is the only way to visit the world. We haven't tried the Contemporary but we have loved: WL, BC & BCV's, Poly and AKL

I vote for the Wilderness Lodge! It is so comfortable, inviting, and home-like. The Cast Members there are always kind and helpful and the rooms are great. We always like sitting in the rocking chairs by the fire reading a good book before bed. :)
