Resort Preferance based on "Real Home"

Though I live in New Hampshire, less than an hour's drive from beaches, mountains and their log cabins, and metro areas, I don't see much similarity in any of the DVC resorts. The "beachy" themed resorts lack the one item that nails the theme... an actual beach. VWL reminds me more of an old west frontier town than a rustic village in New England. And of course Boston doesn't look like SSR in the least. So wherever I go and wherever I stay at DVC, I'm pretty much assured of not being reminded of anything remotely familiar to home.

I kind of agree with that hypothesis. We live in the country in a big log home in the middle of a prairie that is currently full of snowbanks! When we vacation in Florida, we want it to look like Florida, but we also do NOT want the hustle and bustle of what seems like a city, because that is not where we live, and not what we like. It's probably why OKW is our favorite. I love the VWL theme too, and never fail to visit that resort every trip, but no need to stay there, since it is so much like where I live. The other more "urban" DVC resorts hold no interest for me at all, and that is also why my second home resort revolves around an animal theme.

Funny but probably usually true. I have looked at the pics of VWL, and am really not so attracted to it, as we live in the pacific NW, and the lodge reminds me alot of our Crater Lake Lodge, an hour away. Our local lakes, etc. have the pine trees, so when we go on vacation, I want it to be something different.
