Granted, we've already made our choice in lodgings, but which resort hotel has the best pool for lap swimming? Are laps possible at any of them? How about the WL?

Someone mentioned swimming laps to burn vacation dessert calories on the restaurant board, so it got me thinking!

TIA for any info!

First of all you know the official WDW pool policy is no hopping unless you are a DVC member or your resort pool is under rehab. Secondly, the Dophin or Swan has an actual lap pool.

Well, you didn't ask about pool hopping, did you - so you are asking about the resort you are booked at? :earsgirl: Or are you looking to change resorts.

Which resort are you staying at? Then someone can tell you if that resort has a "lap" pool or one where you can swim laps.

To my knowledge, none of the Disney resorts have a lap pool, per se, although some of them are square or rectangular shaped and therefore you could swim back and forth in them. For example - at CSR.

I doubt you can do any laps at any Disney pool. There are many families on one end and others at the other end and some are in the middle of the pool.. You definitely can't do any laps at the Poly, it has 0 depth entry, and lots of families in it. AKL also has a 0 depth entry, the lap would be a very short lap. You might be able to do a lap at CSR. It is shape more like a big kind of square.. that is if no one is swimming. POFQ and POR are free form, so it might be hard to swim straight.

Best bet would be SwanDolpin, I'm sure most of the families with children would be at the Grotto pool and more adults at the lap pool.

I think there are lap pools at the Swan and Dolphin, not the Grotto, but their version of the leisure pool. You have to be a guest of S/D to swim there.

lol no, I have no plans to change resorts, nor pool hop. Not exactly convenient for lap swimming in the evenings after the hordes of tots are in bed to travel from my resort to another, swim, then soggily make my way back! We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge and it's near impossible to tell from pictures if lap swimming is even possible. I was merely curious about other resorts in case we ever end up visiting WDW again.

TIA!

Arent the "quiet pools" at resorts with multiple pools usually good for laps? Short laps, but laps.

I really don't know how to explain this, but doing a lap at AKL wouldn't be a short one at all -- you just go parallel to the zero entry. We went pretty early one morning and there was a man there doing laps across the pool lengthwise and he was getting quite a workout.

It was a pleasure to watch too ;)

I suppose you can do side ways to have a longer lap. That will work! That is if there's not much families in the way for you to do laps.

There are two pools at WL. The larger pool is very busy and I doubt laps would be possible. The second pool is the DVC pool, much quieter and possible to do laps in during off hours.

We'd gotten to the pool rather early that day, probably around 8:30 or so and there weren't a whole lot of people in the pool. The guy was already there when we got there and the other families in the pool just gave him his space. It was pretty nice.
