Do the resort pools have life jackets for younger kids. We are taking ds water wings but dh wants to bring his life jacket. I obviously dont want to haul a life jacket. Also does anyone know the deepest point of the POR main and quiet pools?TIA

We stayed at POR last Feb and I can't recall if there were life jackets and my DH's are older but I would guess not. The waterparks definatley have them but as I recall they were selling them in the giftshop (big surprise!). The main pool has a deep end that was over my head but there is also a "0" depth pool (kiddie pool) that will be perfect for little ones.

We stayed at CBR and POFQ last March Break.....oodles and oodles of lifejackets for the kiddies. We brought my ds's PFD ~ he was 6 years old and about 46 inches tall last year. We used his lifejacket once and then used the resorts all other times. No worries! S

Just remeber to pick one up early in the am, if you think you'll need it later in the day.

If the pool is busy, they may not have the correct size left:)

HTH!!

AKL and The Poly and OKW all had them when we were there in December. They had LOTS of them!

They are sized by pounds and start at 20 pounds and go to at least 60 might be more, I only needed up to 45 LBS so I did not notice if they were bigger or not.

Disclaimer: This is just an opinion, not a judgment. Do what you think is right for your kids.

I spent my youth teaching swimming and as a lifeguard. I was also a swimming coach for a number of years.

Lifejackets are great but Water Wings are not always as safe to teach someone how to swim. It makes their arms float...not their head and body. It also makes moving your arms more difficult.

I remember plucking a dad and his child out of the deep-end who were lulled into a false sense of secuirty by water wings. The 3 year child had wrapped his arms and legs around the father's head and was drowning the adult.

That being said 1,000s of kids use them, I am sure without an issue.

I know the pool at PO:FQ has life jackets, so i would think that PO:R would have them too. Might not have them in the private area's but the public one should have what your looking for!

Thank you for your informed opinion. We have no intention of teaching our son to swim using water wings. We use them in the shallow end only and the lifejacket in the deep end. I too spent many years teaching swimming to pre-school and school aged children and fully appreciate your concern however I can assure you all three of my children will be and have always been adequately supervised.
