Resort POOL hopping?

I would be very peed of if I found myself sitting next to poolhoppers when we visit the WL.

I pay to stay the the WL - for the WL amenities.

Why should someone else think they have the right to sneak by, plonk themselves down using the beds and crowd up the pool? If they want the WL amenities then STAY there.

The poolhopping rules are sensible and there for a reason. You get what you pay for and when making your reservation you choose the resort you stay in and enjoy THOSE amenities.

Couldnt give a monkeys whether the pool hoppers were from values or mods, or deluxes ..... they just shouldnt be there.

It should be very simple to eliminate this either by doing what all-inclusive resorts do which is wear a simple wristband colour coded for each resort or else different colour towels for each resort, towels are handed over on presentation of your key and the lifeguard should be checking hourly for people with different towels .... therefore not resort guests - and chuck them out.

Are you talking to me personally, as in I'm classless? I clearly said breaking the rules is wrong, no matter who does and what their reason is.

But the attitude expressed here is why I prefer to spend my money at Universal resorts.

Not you personally. But pool hopping is classless no matter what resort you stay at or park you hop from. Like PP said, you misunderstood.

Wow -- a blast from the past thread bumped up with all new pages of fighting. And most of the fighting is with people on the same side of the issue.

Pool hopping is a no-no (except for the DVC folks with those priviliges). Also, we do not condone the breaking of Disney rules on the DIS, so if you do pool hop don't post about it here.

what totally stinks is that the poly is my favorite, and when we go during busy times, it's the most convenient resort to get to any park (because of it's location to TTC)... but i will never stay there again during a busy time because there's no getting any type of chair at either pool, even just one regular sitting chair for my family of 4 to share. the pool hopping is completely out of control there during busy times. and again, it's so convenient when the mk opens at 8am and EMH is 7am, I don't have to allow much travel time to get there for 7am if i stay at poly. but the frustration we feel at the pool overrides that convenience. now my thought of where to stay includes "which pool is out of the way and not convenient to pool hoppers?"... ridiculous anyone has to even think that way.

Again, I really think a lot of the problem is locals with annual passes that come over from MK. I wish there could be some type of survey! LOL! Are you even staying on Disney property? LOL

We've never taken advantage of hopping as DVC members - thought about it (would be nice - at least in theory - to use the Poly pool on MK days), but we are really functionally too busy at WDW to bother moving around. And we've discovered that we like being "home" after a swim to have access to fresh clothes and a shower.

We just did this last week - we own at SSR, AKV and BCV and did not find the pools at SSR (where we were staying) that exciting. We legally hopped to the volcano pool at the Polynesian after a morning spent at MK. We ate poolside from Captain Cook's and it was delightful. It was kind of a hassle to find a place to change and stuff our street clothes into a backpack. Still, it was a nice change and the kids hated to leave.

We were at the Poly last week and saw a dripping family walking through the lobby to get on the monorail. The only reason I could think that they would be doing that would be to pool-hop.

That could very well have been us last week - we are DVC owners at 3 resorts and legally hopped to the volcano pool on Friday after a morning at MK. I don't know that we were "dripping" because we changed into our street clothes before getting to the monorail but please be careful of
pre-judging. I still think wrist-bands would be the best solution so then everyone knows who has the right to be there.

In regards to guests of Fort Wilderness using the WL pool:

We stayed at FW in January, and according to the map and resort info, it lists the WL pool as an accessible pool for FW guests. In fact it lists all of WL amenities as being usable to FW guests. And the same goes for WL guests, all FW amenities are accessible for them.
The FW resort map shows WL lodge in it's entirety.

That is not true.

I have the "Wilderness Recreation" map right in front of me as I type. yes, it does show both resorts, and their recreation amenities.

HOWEVER, if you Read under the heading SWIMMING you will see all 4 pools listed (grouped by resort). They are all marked with an * Directly below that it says:
(Wilderness Swimmin' Pool and Meadow Swimmin' Pool ar for the use of DISNEY'S FORT WILDERNESS Resort & Campground Only).
below the WL pool names it says the same thing (for WL guests only).

There is no POOL HOPPING even between these two resorts.

the OTHER recreation amenities are available to guests staying at either resort.

well, the way I see it is this: before I owned DVC I would only swim at the pool where I was staying because that is the rule. Now that I own DVC I do pool hop for several days of each vacation because it is part of my DVC member priviliges. If they ever revoke those rights then I will go back to only swimming where I am staying. Plain and simple-follow the rules!! and besides...kids are happy in any pool and it seems to be the parents who get worked up when the kids are just as happy in any pool. JMHO

Exactly. And that is what bothers me, the assuming by some that pool-hoppers must be those value-staying types.

Absolutely! We do that all the time. We like to look around and have a change of atmosphere to see what the other resorts have to offer and to dine at different places. We've never pool hopped, even now with owning DVC, I can't envision doing it...seems like too much trouble for us.

That is the best way to spend a non-park day. Or, if its raining and yucky outside. It's especially nice during the Christmas season because all the resorts have decorations. The chocolate carousel at the Beach Club (or Yacht Club-not sure which one) is amazing.

I'm going to spend a day doing that when I'm not even staying at Disney. I'm down for a conference and have decided to take my extra day without kids and resort hop. I have to be at the airport at 3:00 - I figure it isn't worth burning a park day in June, I can't think of a park I really really want to see, I find DTD boring.

We own BW, so I've seen BW and Y&BC. Stayed at WL, AKL and the Poly. Have visited the other Deluxes. But I've never been to POR, I really want to see that and Coronado. Then I might spend some time out at AKL watching animals and having lunch at Mara. Resort hopping is not something I'm talking kids and husband into, so it sounds like a good activity for me.
