DF and I are leaving Sunday for our PS. SOOOO excited!! We are staying over at Universal for the week ( :confused3 What can you do when it is his graduation trip and that is where he wants to go?!?! :confused3 ). Can we still do a photo session at a resort for our engagement pics? I was thinking this could be a good solution to needing to do it and my need to feel like I am at Disney for more than just our PS.

How do you make arrangements for those sessions at a resort? And is it okay to do one without staying on property?

Thanks ladies.

I don't see why not. We are staying at the POP and doing our e-shoot at the Polynesian, so I don't see any difference if your staying at Universal? Also, people go to eat or just walk around the Disney resorts all the time without actually staying there. The only thing your not "supposed" to do is use the pools, but we have stayed at value resorts before and ate lunch and then took a dip at some of the deluxe properties. I don't think you will have a problem.

As far as making arrangements, do you want to go through Disney or an outside photographer. (An outside photographer is a lot cheaper.) Either way, contact them asap to see if the date is available. It might be hard to get a session since you are leaving Sunday. Most people book a lot further out. We are using Randy Chapman for our e-shoot and wedding, his prices are reasonable, and I think his photos are great! You could check out his website.

I thought at one time I had read on the boards that you could schedule a shot with a regular Disney photographer at a few of the resorts... Maybe I am just not remembering right.

I would imagine that you are too late to secure an outside photographer but if you call (407) 934-4004 you can schedule a Disney's PhotoPass Professional Portrait Session.

They have a "Photo Memories" - the description off the Disney website is a follows:

Schedule a special session with a Disney's PhotoPass Portrait Photographer and get dozens of beautiful photos using our picturesque resorts as a backdrop. Sessions are customized based on your needs and take 20-30 minutes on average. (Special portrait package purchase required).

Hope this helps:thumbsup2

It might not hurt to call a few of the "outside" photographers, if they don't have a booking while you're there, I doubt anyone would turn down an opportunity not only to do the shoot, but to potentially get a wedding client.
