Resort Mugs - split stay

I heard that the resort mugs are now standardized (??) in WDW. I am doing a split stay - do I have to buy a mug in the first resort, and buy another one in the 2nd resort?

Furthermore - usually they have two different size (e.g. French Quarter has a tall one and a fat one). Do they have only one mug (one size) now? I always prefer the tall one :)

We bought a mug at the Wilderness Lodge in Sept for our first two nights before moving to the BCV and found that they were the same at both resorts. The mug is tall and has the "Year of a Million Dreams" in blue and white on it.

Mugs are only one size and generic across all resorts (same style). We just did a split-stay a few weeks ago and only bought one mug throughout our stay.

...before anyone flames me for using our mugs at both resorts, we asked a CM at our new resort and they said it was fine.

Thanks. so technically speaking, I can re-use the mug throughout my stay? The thing is our group has six people and despite of the price, we don't want to return home with 12 mugs ;)

Glad to know it is the tall mug - i hate the fat one (last year i bought from SSR) - it can't fit in my car's cup holder

I would say it's fine to use the same mug throughout your stay. You might find people on here that will argue this, but really, doing a split-stay during the same vacation is the same thing as staying at a single resort in the same vacation-or that's what the CM said to us when we asked her.

My mug fits very well in my car cup holder!

Stellablue, correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't the wording on the mug support what the CM told you as well?

Not sure I understand where you are going with that-?

I'm just trying to head off anyone attacking you by saying that it's in the wording now too in addition to the word of a CM (However unnecessary the wording may since the CM's are stating it's policy.)

I didn't see this in the wording on the sign last time we were there (that's why we questioned the CM about it). That's good that they put it in there.

Here's the sign at the WL.

The sign clearly states "from this beverage station", not "any" or "every" beverage station.
That said, I wouldn't hesitate to use the same mug on a split stay. :goodvibes

Weren't the mugs, at one time, different between the resorts? I'm trying to remember but lately my brain doesn't respond well....

This is the actual wording on the YOAMD mugs. Free refills available at our Resort Beverage Island until the end of the stay in which the mug was purchased.

In my opinion when they mean our Resort Beverage Islands I think they mean every Resort counter service location, because why would not put the Resort where it was purchased at like on the old mugs if they did not want the guests using them at other Resorts. As for the end of the stay part, I take that to mean until your trip at WDW ends and you go home. Sure some may take that as checking out of the Resort where you stayed, however if your doing a split stay why purchase the same mugs again when the design is the same.

Yes-that's the exact sign we saw, which is why we questioned the CM. We understand that split-stays are not "the norm" and may not be mentioned in a general sign. The CM said the exact same thing as to why they don't mention it and said the reason why they stress "in the same resort as purchased" is because they don't want people leaving Epcot, for instance, and walking over to the BC and refilling their mugs. We used our mugs in the resort that we were staying in.

We asked the CM about using our mugs at different resorts, they said it was perfectly fine.
