Resort Monorail to GF During New Year's Eve?

Hi everyone!

My husband and I are currently holding reservations at the Contemporary for new year's eve, but I'd really love (prefer?) to stay at the GF. My husband doesn't want to because we are planning to go to the MK for new year's eve and, like everyone else packed into that park, leave after the fireworks etc. If we switched to the GF, would it take forever to get back to our hotel on the resort monorail? How about the boat? I've seen what looked like a 3 hour line to get to TTC from the MK when we were leaving on just a normal day so I wouldn't want to get caught up in that mess... it seems silly to pay more for less convenience. Can anyone who has been there at this time period help with what transporation is like? Would it work to walk to the contemporary and grab the resort monorail from there if there is a huge line at the MK?

Thanks!

Lisa

The resort monorail loop runs MK-Contemporary-TTC-Poly-GF, so walking to Contemporary and getting on there will probably not help all that much (unless there is a mass exodus at Contemporary). I've found that the resort monorail is actually pretty efficient most of the time (everyone crowds the express monorail side) and although it will be crowded when you first get on, the crowds will lessen with each stop. Also, isn't there a boat from MK to GF (it's a small one, so I don't know if it will help that much.

Granted, I've never gone on New Year's Eve, but I have observed this during the summer.

If you staying at the Contemporary and after the Fireworks are over if you see a Long line just
take the short walk over to the Contemporay, I see Guest do this all the Time. Also it can be faster to walk from the Contemporary to the Magic Kingdom then taking the Monorail, its about a 5 min walk.
