Any recommendations for resort meals that are easy to get to from WDW? I have heard that Chef Mickeys is good for a late breakfast.

Will I loose to much time if we try to leave WDW?

If you are at MGM, you can walk or take a Friendship Launch over to the Boardwalk or to the YC/BC.

If you are at Epcot, you can also take a 5-10 minute walk to the Boardwalk Resorts from the International Gateway (side entrance to Epcot).

There are lots of great restaurants on the Boardwalk - Spoodles, Flying Fish, ESPN, Big River Grille.

There is also Beaches and Cream and a character breakfast at Cape May over the the YC/BC.

If you catch a monorail, you can also dine at any of the monorail/MK resorts like GF, Poly, CR.

I would also say that I don't know if I would leave the park just to have a meal at a resort, unless I was leaving anyways or really want a break for a couple of hours.

Now if you were at MK and wanted to leave, you could take the monorail and stop at a resort for a meal and then carry on the monorail to go to Epcot later in the day or evening.

Or if you were at Epcot already and wanted to go to the Boardwalk for a few hours, you could either return to Epcot or carry on over to MGM.

I would only do it as part of a transition to another park or on the way back to your resort.

If you are interested in park hopping, resort dining is a good way to manage it. Take a bus/boat/monorail to the resort from Park A, enjoy your meal and then take that resorts transportation to Park B.

You are a little confused on terminology.

WDW is all of WDW - 50 some square miles. As the resort restaurants are in WDW, they are all convienient to WDW.

The parks:

MK - Magic Kingdom - the monorail restaurants will be the most convienient to MK - Chef Mickey's will only take about ten minutes to get to from the front of the MK and is a great choice for a late breakfast. Kona Cafe at the Poly for Tonga Toast. Dinner at Ohana or Narcoosees......

Epcot and MGM - the BW area restaurants are the ones conveinent to these parks, these restaurants are in the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach Club, or Swan and Dolphin hotels. Epcot is a pretty large park, the Y&BC is only about five minutes out the International Gateway (and the other resorts only a little further), but the IG may be quite a hike if you are at Mission Space. The resort are a little farther from MGM, but still manageable - and there is a boat that goes between Epcot and MGM, stopping at the resorts.

AK - the AKL (Animal Kingdom Lodge) is really not very convienent to the AK itself, and there aren't many resorts that are. But a short bus ride would take you to the AKL, where Boma servers a breakfast and dinner that most people here rave about.

With 50 square miles of property, it generally isn't convienent to bop from the MK to AKL for dinner, or from MGM to Chef Mickey's. But people do and it can be done.

Thanks for the clarification. We will be spending most of our time at MK and Epcot.

We will be spending some 1/2 days at the park, since my children are small (3 and 5).

Maybe some days hopping to other parks (I heard that AK does not take a whole day).

We will be staying at POFQ which doesn't have many dining choices.

Thanks for everyones input!

We love AK, and I never feel like I've spent enough time there - I've spent as much as two half days (we have little ones too) and still missed a lot of stuff. Over three trips I've spent probably 18 hours in AK and haven't seen everything I'm interested in. I like to watch the animals and roam the trails. One trip on the safari is never enough, and I can watch Festival of the Lion King more than once as well. I love the incredible detail in that park.

The reason I say this is that everyone has different tastes and a different ideas of what there vacation will involve. I know a lot of people think of AK as a half day park. On the other hand, we can skip MGM completely with or without our kids (did last trip, except to see Fantasmic one night) and while we spend a lot of time in Epcot to eat and look at things, the kids would rather be in AK.

Ours were just four and just five last trip. We would get to each park at opening (my recommendation is to take advantage of EE in the MK with kids your age - but leave before lunchtime). My kids aren't nappers, but we were back at the hotel for swim time around 2 or 3. We had dinner, usually within Epcot, at 6:00 - which often gave us a chance to see a few Epcot attractions before dinner - but by after dinner my non-nappers were ready for bed.

Since your kids are 3 and 5, MGM has a lot of good things to do too. Playhouse Disney, Muppetvision, HISTK playground, etc.

Anyway, back to your question. From MK, Kona Cafe at the Poly is good, Whispering Canyon at WL, Trails End Buffet at FW is also good.

From MGM, take a boat to Beaches & Cream at the Beach Club or anywhere in the Boardwalk.

From Epcot, same thing as MGM. I'd stay in Epcot though and sample some of the great food in the World Showcase.

From AK, take a bus down to Boma at AKL, good breakfast buffet.

I'd try Spoodles it is our favorite restaurant. It is within walking distance from Epcot and a short boat ride from MGM.
