Could someone please explain the process of transferring luggage from one resort to another? I assume I'll ask for the transfer once I check out, but I don't know who to ask and how to ask for it? In addition, when and where do I pick the bags up at? Finally, if anyone can share their experiences about transferring their bags within WDW, I'd greatly appreciate it? We'll be moving from AKL to BWI. Thanks.

DISNuts,

We always have a rental car and prefer to check-out early and take the luggage with us to the next resort. You can then check-in at the new resort early, giving you a better chance of getting the room type you want. Sometimes the room will be ready, otherwise they'll hold your luggage for you until the room is ready later in the day.

If you want to have the resorts to xfer your luggage just tell bell services when you call them which resort you're going to. I believe it is usually at the new resort by mid to late afternoon.

I'm very curious about this too. We never get a rental car and I always wondered if Disney would take care of transferring your luggage for you. I always thought it would be neat to stay at 2 different resorts during our stay.

Thanks for posting the question! So Steve (or other posters), they will transfer the luggage? Does it cost?

Welcome to the DIS, DISnuts!

I have switched resorts several times, and it has always been super easy. I have the bellmen pick up my luggage at the room in the first resort the day I am checking out. I usually do this bright in early in the morning so as not to waste any time. I tell them where I am moving to, and get the tag.

I then go off to the park for the morning and head over to the second resort sometime after three. The luggage is usually at the resort by the time I get there. Then, I just call bell services, go to my room, and wait for my luggage. It's really easy.

I always tip the bellmen at both resort ($1 per bag).

One of my tips for switching resorts is to use packing folders and bags, and pack the clothes for each half of your trip separately, that way you don't have to unpack and repack everything.

We've stayed at 2 resorts on quite a few trips. I wouldn't recommend it for a stay of less than 6 or 7 days, you don't want to be moving resorts before you're settled in. 3 or 4 nights or more at each resort is a nice change.

I know all of the deluxe resorts will xfer luggage, I would think the moderates would as well. Maybe somebody else here has xfered luggage to/from the moderates?

The only cost would be tipping bell services. How much you may ask.....??????......let's not open that can of worms again.

Thanks for the info and thanks for the warm welcome TLinden16! This should be a fun Memorial Day weekend at WDW. My parents are going to have a blast with my DD! Four days and counting...
