I'm a firm believer that when I go on vacation, I'M ON VACATION. Therefore, I have never even considered taking my laptop on any previous WDW trips. However, my BIL is going this time and has an online business and he wants to take his laptop so he can check in on things every now and then. While I believe that once he's there, he'll never touch it...I told him that I would find out some info for him.

We're all staying at CR and then AKL. I remember internet access at CR but really am unfamiliar with it. It's just one of those things that I've glanced at as I'm running out the door to go to the monorail . Can anyone give me any kind of input on internet access at either of these resorts?

I'm looking for cost, connection, recommendations..........just about anything. Remember, I'm WDW internet illiterate.

Thanks in advance for any info provided!

Both should have high speed access via ethernet cable (one can be provided upon request). Cost is $9.95 per 24hr period.

I just returned from the AKL almost two weeks ago. There is no high-speed access there as of yet. I was told that it ~might~ be available in the October timeframe. For now, you have to use a dial-up Internet provider.

I personally stayed in six resorts during that WDW vacation, so I can attest to the following resorts as to whether or not they had any sort of high-speed Internet access:

Pop Century (only dial-up)
All-Stars Music (only dial-up)
Grand Floridian (high-speed access in room & WiFi in public areas)
Fort Wilderness Cabins (high-speed access)
Saratoga Springs Resort (high-speed access)
Animal Kingdom Lodge (only dial-up access)

The cost of the high-speed Internet service was approximately $10 for a 24-hour period.

FYI (you never know when this info will come in handy): I also stayed in all three of the Disneyland resorts this summer: Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier, & Grand Californian. All three of those resorts had in-room high-speed Internet access and its cost was part of the daily resort fee that was charged. I should note that the Grand Californian also had WiFi access in its public areas (I never bothered to check for that access in the other two resorts, sorry). I sent some fun pool pictures from the resort's pool deck via WiFi to my husband who was stuck at home for part of that vacation.
