What do you suggest for a first-time family (not myself of course) of 5? I'm trying to find them the best deal, but there are so many hotels out there.
Has anyone stayed at the Grosvenor Resort? Seralago Maingate? Any of the Westgates (Blue Tree, Resort & Spa, Palace or Towers)? Every time I see a "ooh that's a nice and reasonable priced hotel for them" .. I check tripadvisors to see a bad review ... soooo confusing :confused3

Edit: Ooh, just found another good one and it had a good rating, has anyone stayed at Fantasy World Club Villas?

we stayed at cypress point in June and it was really nice. Its a couple of blocks from DD. we booked through www.hotelkingdom.com If you do a search, there are lots of threads and pictures of the place. We stayed in a 2 bedroom for our family of 4, but depending on how old your family is, a 3 bedroom isn't that much more.

Grand Villas or Resort?
They only have it for the 5th but not the 6th or 7th :(

Edit: Hmm, Expedia says it has rooms still but at $135 per night instead of $93 :( Do you know if it might be too late / early to book thru their site?

Leaning towards Grosvenor as I can pass that as a "Disney resort" to family .. since they insist on that.

Sheraton VIstana Resort or Bryan's Spanish Cove are both timeshare that sometime might appear here

www.skyauction.com

Silver Lake is also a nice choice.

now if your friends aren't willing to drive. then I would with 2 rooms at the WDW value resort or a DD hotel.

for about what you would pay for a couple of nights in either you can generally get a week.

but it is their decision.

Not sure what you mean by being a "Disney resort" except that it's on Hotel Plaza Blvd. Since these hotels no longer use Disney transportation and they don't have the extra hours benefits (except Hilton), they really don't have much to do with Disney except being physically located on Disney property. At least any more than any other off-site hotel.

If they truly insist on a Disney hotel, I don't think the Grosvenor qualifies very well.

I mean something in Downtown Disney by "Disney resort" since nothing is really "on site" .. the extra magic hours doesn't benefit me and I am driving up so no need for transportation.

Just for the record, SeraLago is NOT that close to Disney - it's on 192, just east of Old Town. Nope, haven't stayed there. What about Buena Vista Suites? Haven't stayed there either, but it's advertised at the top of one of the Disboards links.

Yeah, those were ones I found that weren't too expensive :) Was curious on people's opinions on those hehe

I have been seeing that ad too -

this is pretty close to WDW.

It is on the middle of 2 very, very busy streets.

ID (535) and 536

For convenience, I would recommend any of the DD resorts on Hotel Plaza Blvd. DH and I have stayed onsite, DD resorts, offsite, and even WAY offsite. DH loves the location of the Grosvenor! You will get many reviews both good and bad about ANY resort near or in WDW! We prefer properties on Hotel Plaza Blvd and consider them the best possible affordable compromise. And we prefer them to WDW value resorts. The Grosvenor is literally just across the street from DD. DH and I walked over every night. We have also stayed at the Holiday Inn - ho hum, but still ok. Our next trip is coming up soon and after 10 days at CSR, we have three days reserved at the Best Western. (Got the best rate there).

What are their children's ages? Will they fit at Port Orleans? Will that fit into their budget? If they want a Disney hotel, that would do it and at a fairly decent rate.
