We will be staying at the Animal Kingdom Lodge when we go to Disney next year. I was wondering if it is possible to swim at other resorts if you are already staying at a Disney resort? I think it would be fun to check out other properties. Is this acceptable? Thanks!!:rotfl:

you can check out other resorts in terms of shopping there or eating there.

but you may NOT "pool hop." (unless you spend $15 grand or so to become a DVC member AND are staying on points.) they have the right to ask to see your room key and will tell you to leave.

the AKL pool is awesome, but to try the other resorts' pools you first need to book a room at the other resorts...

only if you refill your resort mug that you bought from a previous trip at the refill station of the resort that you plan to pool hop at. and then only if you have an unused fastpass from earlier in the day that you plan on using well after it expires.

While it is okay to check out the other resorts and to use a lot of their amenities, you will find signage at each resort pool telling you that the pool is restricted to the guests staying at that particular resort.
Can you imagine how you would feel if you went out to your pool, at AKL, only to find there to be no place to sit, and the pool overly crowded with people not staying at AKL?
In fact, even DVC folks, staying on points, are not allowed to pool hop to either SAB at YC/BC or the pool at AKL.

Resort hopping is fine, though. Check out the lobbies, gift shops, and have a meal in one of the restaurants. :)

Since you are a newbie, this is a question that gets asked a lot and is a hot button issue- as well as using a refillable mug from a previous stay. Somehow you are supposed to know that instinctively and never ask...

They just asked a question. This reply was very uncalled for. To the original poster, don't let this reply scare you away, there is excellent information on this site with very experienced Disney travelers!

before i get any more replies like this. look at the op. it has a rofl, smiley face after it. this topic was started as a joke. at least that is how i see it. how would the op know to put that smiley, if he\she didnt already know that there would be some that took it seriously.
