WOW, is all I can say. I am new to this forum and I can't believe how rudely I was attacked for asking a question! It was a simple question. How are people supposed to learn anything? I thought that is what forums are for.

Then when I went to respond, the forum was closed??? I was excited to find this forum, but now I am afraid to ask a question.

I did not see your question. If you would post again, I would be happy to try to respond to the best of my knowledge.

Well, I asked if you could use pools at other Disney resorts if you were staying at one. Seemed like a simple question - BUT, apparently it hit someone's HOT button.

I have been involved in many forums on many different subjects and have always been received warmly and respectfully. I was just shocked at the response I received.

Thanks for your kind response.

I'm sorry you got attacked. There are some sensitive issues here with some folks. It's nothing personal against you - just the subject.

Welcome to the Dis . I hope you give us another try and hang around a while. You will find a wealth of information here on all things Disney plus many other subjects.:grouphug:

Thank you. I am sure that one or two rude people do NOT represent the overall attitude of the forum.

I am sorry you were attacked (I often feel that way when I post about our devotion to our favorite resort, but I just shake them off--I doubt many of them have even stayed at the resort!). :) Please give us another chance...most of the posters are very nice and helpful. And welcome to the Dis.

No, there is no pool hopping among the resorts. Resort guests can only use the pool at the resort they are staying at.

Have a magical day. pixiedust:

Hi there,

I did not see your original thread, but I'm so sorry you were attacked. You get some people on here that take things a bit too personally. I've been the butt of an attack as well for asking a simple question....:sad2:

But, I can strongly say that most people on here are very kind and friendly, so please don't give up on these boards-they really helped make my first trip back to WDW a success!!

Anyways, back in the day, you used to be able to pool hop if you were staying at one of the WDW resorts, they've disallowed that nowadays.

Generally, you are only allowed to use the pool of the resort you are staying at. There are some exceptions-some resorts that are right next to each other allow shared use, like the All Stars and I'm pretty sure Yacht & Beach Club. Somebody please politely correct me if I am wrong on that. :)

When you arrive at your resort, you will be provided with an info packet about the resort and it will mention he pool. If you are allowed to share pools with another resort (again, depending on which resort you are staying at), it should mention it in your info packet.

Also, if you want to make sure, ask the CM upon check in.

I hope you have a magical stay on your upcoming WDW vacation and please know, that there are a few rude people on here, but most of us are very kind and sweet.

Please don't hesitate to ask any more questions!! If you feel more comfortable askin more questions on this thread, I'm sure that will be fine. :flower3: :flower3: :flower3:

Unfortunately you asked a "hot topic" question. I too have done the same thing when I was new. I asked the other no no about resort mugs. Give it another chance and you will learn the ropes of what is allowed and not allowed. There is some awesome information to be found here and it is soooo helpful. We all hit touchy subjects from time to time. If I hated a resort antoher loved it is bound to generate bad feelings from time to time but no harm is ever meant here on the DIS. Welcome and have fun planning your trip!!

Hi and Welcome!

I hate that people were ugly to you. The pp's (previous posters) are right...MOST of the DISers are kind people, willing to help. I have been attacked too, for some things that seem ridiculous! I just try to remind myself that when someone takes it upon themselves to be intentionally hurtful, THEY are the one with a problem. Rise above my friend!

Anyway.......We really are glad you are here!:flower3:

:welcome: Carlyzmom! Sorry that you were attacked. Hope you have a better time on the boards from now on :wizard:

If you stay at POR or POFQ you can use either pool. I believe the only pool
where you need to show your room key is at the Beach club.

I'm sorry as well...People should not be rude...even with "hot topic questions". Anyway, Welcome to the board and feel free to ask anything you want. That's what we are here for...and to those that were rude to you...:earboy2:

Don't let a few bad apples spoil the bunch. I too have felt attacked, and have encountered rude people, but don't let them get to you. The majority of people on this board are very friendly and extremely helpful.

I think it is because people get a little ticked when they are paying premium for resorts like the Poly and people that aren't paying guests there are trying to utilize the facilities, therefore making it more crowded than what it already is with paying guests. With the Poly being 400.00 a night, it would irritate a person that is a paying guest to see people sneaking around to swim at the resort to catch the fireworks and lighted parade and crowding the beaches at the resort. It would kind of irritate me too so I don't blame some peoples responses. However, I didn't see too many of the replies but I'm guessing it is a very touchy subject. I know I had read some posts awhile back about people doing that at the Wilderness Lodge, where they would come from Fort Wilderness Campground and also with the Yacht and Beach Clubs big pool complex, where people that didn't stay there would come to use the facilities. I think all the pools should strictly be reserved for the people paying to stay at the resort. Just seems to me to be common courtesy. Don't be afraid to ask questions though here. Disboarders and the community are very knowledgeable and are very willing to help. Again, I didn't see the rude responses and I'm sorry you incurred that. Please don't let that deter you from visiting these boards because they are wonderful. Just don't take everything you read here to heart because this is a community of MANY differing opinions and this is a very touchy subject. Goodluck to you:thumbsup2 and keep coming back and don't be afraid to ask questions, just don't expect everyone to respond the way you hoped for;)

Welcome!!!

We'll, last year when we visit Ohana for Dinner....after dinner, my son's decided to go swimming. For that time we where staying at ASMU and also we decided to watch the fireworks from the beach....Nobody tell us nothing and we did not ask either...The same happened when renting speed boats....Since, I remember staying on different Disney Hotels and I remember using other pools than my hotel...

One year we stayed at Tree Houses Villages and we use the facilities of Poly or Contempary.....so I don't think is a big deal....

That is no longer allowed though and if a CM catches you, you will be thrown out. Well let me rephrase that. You can use the beach and you can rent watercraft from any resort, but you can't use their pools. The pools are not that large and are reserved for that resort's paying guests. The only exception are sister resorts: POFQ and PORS can share their pools, the All Stars can share their pools, and Beach Club/Yacht Club share Stormalong Bay. I was not rude, but did post in the OP original post that we had seen people thrown out of the pools at WL and BW.

To the OP, as someone has already said there are some really hot topics here on the DIS (pool hopping, reusing refillable resort mugs, making multiple ADRs, crying kids in restaurants, one person waiting in lines or saving parade spots while the rest of the family goes to do other things, POP Warner kids, Brazilian tour groups, etc). Unfortunatly your first post was on one of these hot topics. It wasn't your fault and people should not have been rude. The DIS is a great source of information and sometimes people forget that at one time we were all newbies and just needed information. Feel free to ask any question you need to. Yes, you may get a few rude responses, but most people here just really love Disney and want to share information.

WELCOME TO THE DIS:grouphug:

Hey, welcome! Not everyone is an attacker, haha. I know what you mean though. Sometimes I want to post my true feelings about electric scooters and those who abuse them, but every time I say my opinion, the thread closes. So now I don't really post my opinions anymore cause I get shot down every time. I thought a forum was where we could all discuss our differences on topics, but I guess I was wrong. But yeah to sum it all up, I know how you feel!

The minority of people get upset about pool hopping, it doesn't bother me or Disney. If it did they would enforce the rules or run checks.
I'm sorry people were so nasty to you if you want to use the Poly pool simply ask Disney it's THEIR pool, the worst they can say is no. We asked to use AKL pool last year and were allowed, TBH it was nicer than the Poly pool. Enjoy your holiday, enjoy your time on the dibb and let those with nothing better to do stress about it. After all its their holiday they ruin not yours or mine.

WELCOME TO THE DIS:goodvibes

Sorry you were attacked.....unfortunately you hit a "hot" issue right away.

Some issues to be wary of are.....

Pool hopping
Occupancy limits in rooms
Saving lounge chairs.
Parking at the Contemporary
just to name a few.
Kerri

I am closing this thread because the OP has received her answer. This thread is discussing a thread that had been closed.

To the OP as others have mentioned there are certain topics here that always led to debate. Disney does have rules in place. The signs for the pool are posted with the rules. If you ask a lifeguard at a resort if you are allowed to swim and they say yes then no problems.

You will find many helpful people on the DIS. I can promise you will get answers to your questions here.
