We always say we will visit other Disney resorts, but almost never do (we have stayed at the monorail resorts but have stayed at BC for years and never leave the Boardwalk area except to go to the parks), but I think we will spend less time in the parks during our July trip and will therefore have more time to resort hop. What resorts are your favorite to explore? Do you need restaurant reservations to visit resorts you are not staying in now? I know pool hopping is never allowed, and we would never try it.

You can visit other resorts when using Disney transportation but as a lot of the activities are shut down, there's not a lot to do.

I guess you can see the animals at AKL, but not sure what else...

There is a similar thread on this subject I just saw the other day. As I recall that discussion, if you take Disney transportation, you are welcome to visit any other resort to shop or just look around. Driving your own car to the monorail resorts (for example) usually requires an ADR. Disney is wise to those who think they will get out of paying to park at MK and instead park for free at one of the monorail resorts.

I'll search for the thread, thanks, and thanks for the info on many things being closed/not happening at resorts. We never rent a car, always use Disney transportation and Uber, so no worries on that front.

Any resort on the Skyliner is fun to explore at least once. You can tour the DVC villas at RIV if you stop at the Vacation Club kiosk in the lobby. Grab a snack at POP that isn't on the menu anywhere else and just wander around AoA to take in the larger-than-life decorations.

The Gran Destino Tower at CSR is beautiful. We had a great meal at Toledo but I doubt that it will open before your trip.

Check out the Carrollwood Pacific Room at Boulder Ridge if you have train aficionados in your family.

Do a Hidden Mickey search at GF. Have a drink in the Enchanted Rose Lounge.

Depending on when you're going in July, the GCH at the Poly may be completely open. Check out the changes in the GCH and monorail station. Grab a Dole Whip and take in the Electric Water Parade from the beach.

Hello! I'm hoping to resort hop to Art of Animation by skyliner next week. Does anyone know if resorts are turning away people who don't have a room or dining reservation?

As long as you arrive via Disney transportation (Skyliner or bus), you'll be fine. It's only people driving in (their own cars or rideshare) who have a risk of being turned away from Disney hotels.

What about an Uber to the Swan or Dolphin? Since they're not Disney-owned are you able to Uber there without a reservation so that you can walk around the Boardwalk?
